I stood on the balcony of the observatory, staring up at the stars. I was, of course, in human form. Each tiny star represented a whole new world, I wished to explore them, and learn what I can, then teach them... It was quiet, it was cool, it was nice. "Ahh the places i could shower in my knowledge... I whispered. Though i was being completely self centered of my self, it was relaxing to think what ever I wanted while I was alone.
I wondered if any one else was going to come up to the observatory to view the stars, and who? really I didn't want company, but It bothered me a bit, I wondered if any one else had the same thoughts as me about the other worlds? Maybe.. just maybe.

Walking in quietly and carefully, Fiona looked around the inside of the observatory with great curiosity. She had seen the huge structure sitting up on top of the hill from her dorm room window, and her curiosity was piqued by it. A building with a spherical dome of a roof was something she had never seen before, and she just had to know what it was (despite it being presumedly very late at night).
"Anyone here?" Fiona called out fearlessly, she couldn't see anything in the darkness and she was fumbling around for some sort of switch or something to illuminate the room.
All the sudden Fiona lost her footing, and could feel herself tripping over an unseen object on the ground. There was a loud crash as she fell to the floor. "Ouchies..."

I flicked on the lights to look at a girl laying on the ground. "Why are you here?" I asked, bluntly. I didn't like fooling around with small talk. Did she come to see me? No, no one ever does. I sighed, and offered her a hand to help her up.
(sorry for the short post :/, lacking in muse right now... But i think i can get it back. )

((OOC: No worries, I totally know how you feel. XD I do it a lot myself))
So someone else was in the observatory afterall? Fiona felt embarassed that she didn't notice him before. She looked up at him squinting her eyes, trying to see more through the darkness but to no avail.
"Ummm, well, I just saw this place and I thought it looked really neat." Fiona replied as she took the boys hand carefully and stood up. "Thanks! I'm sorry if I disturbed you or anything, I didn't think anyone was here and I can't really see anything..."
Fiona let go of his hand and stepped away towards the lighter part of the room. She could see the balcony around the corner, large windows where the moonlight shined through.
"Come over here so I can get a better look at you! Oh and names Fiona by the way, what's yours?"

I was slightly disturbed at her demand, but i complied and emerged next to her, where she could see me. "Lexxus... Lexxus Demius, prodigy child of the Demius family, and the first Criosphinx at the school..." I recited as if i had practiced that, though i had not. I looked at her eyes, so she could see mine. Pretty I though as i examined her face. I brought out my pocket watch and saw the time, just after midnight, good, the stars are at their brightest...

"Oh wow a Criosphunx? Well I can't say I've ever met one before." Fiona smiled up at Lexxus cheerfully, observing him now with inquisitive dark eyes. "I'm a lyre bird, umm I don't know if I'm the first one at my school though! Hopefully not!"
Fiona watched him with a sort of wonder as he took out an elegant little pocketwatch. The moonlight reflected off the top of it with a silver gleam, and she gasped a little. She always had a soft spot for shiny objects, probably due to her bird form.
"It must be past midnight now, huh?" She asked, and then paused to ask Lexxus another question, "Oh what were you doing here by the way? Before I interrupted you I mean..."

"You weren't interrupting at all, actually. I came here to star gaze." I answered calmly, it was unorthodox for me to answer calmly, i usually always snapped, but something seemed calming the about her. "care to join me?" I asked. we walked out to where we could see the sky, and stared up. "Despite how i may act, I do enjoy company now and again." I said quietly. The stars reflected off her eyes, creating a miror of the sky that was captivating. Beauty existed in everything, but I never took the time to see it in a woman's eyes. "What do you think it would be like to go to another world beyond this one? i asked anxiously.

"Wow Stargazing! I would love to join you!" Fiona beamed up at Lexxus, excited to be able to look up at the stars with someone else. They walked together towards the windowed doors, and in a gesture of kindness he opened the door for her carefully. Fiona smiled up at him and thanked him, then as they stepped out onto the balcony she looked up and gasped at the wide array of stars speckled up in the night sky. For once she was silent, all she did was stare up at the sky in absolute wonder, letting her mind wander. It was until Lexxus' voice spoke up, that she was brought back to reality.
"Despite how I may act, I do enjoy company now and again." He spoke quietly, and she nodded thoughtfully to him in response.
"It's good to be around others, I think I'd go crazy if I always remained alone." She replied, the cheerful tone in her voice always present. She turned back towards him and smiled warmly.
He seemed like a nice person, she wondered if he was new to the school as well. Maybe a possible friend to make? She loved the thought of making new friends.
"What do you think it would be like to go to another world beyond this one?" Lexxus asked seriously. Fiona turned away to look back up at the sky, and thought about what he had just asked.
"Hm well that's a good question... If there was another world out there, much like our own, I wonder what it would be like? Maybe it would be a different world, where our types and humans coexisted peacefully. That would be really nice."

A place where humans and our kind coexisted peacefully? my mind broke down the though into every possibility. My mind leaned towards people becoming greedy by nature to all want this kind of power. But the scenario, of a perfectly balanced world felt warm and inviting. "Perhaps we can teach our world that kind of peace?" I said. I wish to teach, make the world see what I see... I thought. I got the sudden urge to fly above the clouds and view the vast sky. Fiona was a lyre bird, she could fly in her other form, and I too had wings. "Care to see the sky from above the clouds?" I pawned off the idea to her, hoping the would accept. I wanted to see her in her bird form, as much as i wanted to show her my Criosphinx form.

Oh no, he wanted to know what she was like in her true form? In all honesty, she really wouldn't mind showing him her lyre bird form if he was curious, it was just the fact that she couldn't quite yet. She had no idea how, she was so out of touch with her true self. As far as she could remember, she only shed her skin once in her whole lifetime, and she couldn't quite remember how it happened either.
"Well, you see..." Fiona stared off into space, her voice becoming somewhat more silent and out of character for her, "I'm not really sure how to... Only once I've been able to come out of my human skin."
FIona was a bit ashamed of it, she had to admit. She was attending a school full of creatures much more familiar with their real selves, while she was just so out of touch and alone in that aspect.
"But I really, really wish I could fly though!" She leaned on the edge of the balcony and looked up at the sky again. She really wanted to learn how to go back to her real form whenever she willed it.

It disappointed me to hear that she couldn't go back to her bird form, but i felt inclined to help. I had a theory, as I always did for everything it seemed. "Maybe if you focused on that form, try focusing on your true self, imagine your self becoming that." I said, remembering how i changed forms and what helped for me. To me changing was simple, but I was told that it runs in my blood. Perhaps it was not the same for Fiona, though i still wished to try for her. My mind theorized every possible outcome and way to do this, throwing out the impossible and mentally testing the possible. I waited for her to try my idea.

"I could try!" Fiona smiled up at Lexxus, her cheerful nature returning once again. "Is that how you do it then? By concentrating really hard on your Criosphinx form?"
Fiona turned away from him, looking back up at the stars, while still leaning up on the balcony's railing. She really had no memory of what her true form was, but she had done a little research before. A colorful bird with really long tail feathers, similar to a peacock, a beautiful creature... She tried looking back through the recesses of her mind, trying to recall what it was like in that short amount of time she had transformed to her real form in the past.
She tried focusing hard, closing her eyes and putting her mind completely on her Lyre Bird form. Nothing was happening though, she just couldn't feel it...
"Gosh... I don't think I can..." Fiona sighed sadly, but then almost immediately turned back towards Lexxus and smiled. "But I bet it must be an easy thing for you, huh? I think I could be able to learn a whole lot from you maybe."

I accepted my failure, and my mind moved on. I looked at Fiona, who was smiling. She had a nice smile, it was vibrant and inviting. I decided to accept the offer and help her as much as I could. I tried to think of anything that could help for her. Then I had an Idea. "here, follow me. I said quietly, and called her forwards. I then climbed up onto the railing, and climbed up, onto the sloped roof of the observatory. I waited for her to climb up as well, waiting near the edge to give her a hand up. It was very windy on top of the roof, I had the idea that maybe feeling up high could help a lot. I used to practice changing back and forth on my roof at home, and mastered it easily.

To try transformation on the top of the roof? It was somewhat of a crazy idea, but she knew he was definitely onto something here. After all, what better way to focus on her lyre bird form than by standing up on top of a roof? It reminded her more of the "accident" that happened which caused her to transform into that form once before.
Wow, so high up... Fiona looked down below as she was climbing up the top of the observatory. The roof was so sloped and hard to grip onto, so she was thankful that Lexxus was there helping and giving her a hand up.
As Fio reached the top with Lexxus, she gave a huge sigh of relief. She wasn't fearful of heights, but the wind was rather strong tonight, and the possibility of her small frame being blown off from a huge gust didn't slip her mind. Even at the top now, Fiona could feel the wind whipping through her hair and ruffling her clothing in strong abrupt gusts.
She turned back to Lexxus once she felt like she was standing sturdy enough, and gave him a confident smile and a nod. Fio could feel the higher altitude giving her some sort of an adrenaline rush now and she was prepared. If Lexxus believed in her, she felt like she believed in herself too.
"I can do this!" Fiona exclaimed, and pumped her fist in the air energetically. She was just about to close her eyes and focus on her true form like she had done earlier, but she felt a huge gust of wind blow up against her back. Oh no... It all happened so fast. The next moment she could feel herself tumbling forward from that gust of wind, her small body sliding down the roof towards the ground. Fiona let out a shrill scream as she continued falling, preparing for the worst... A vision of a red bird with long colorful feathers flashed in her mind though...
Nearly in an instant Fiona could feel her skin falling. Smooth human skin replaced by long beautiful feathers, hands now replaced with wings, a long glorious tail now revealed. It was instinct for her to flap her large colorful wings against the wind, and she could feel herself flying. Flying!
(I did it!) Fiona shouted, realizing she was now speaking directly to Lexxus' mind now. Mindspeak in her lyre bird form was an involuntary action for her, she completely forgot about that being a lyre bird's special ability. (I can fly!)
Fiona flew up to Lexxus, her long colorful tail feathers flowing behind her. It was a wonderful feeling to accomplish changing, and even more so after avoiding terrible injury. She wanted to thank Lexxus so much for helping her and believing in her. She just couldn't believe that she had become her true self!

I sighed, in relief, I put my hands in my pocket and smiled. Good job, Fiona. I said in my mind. "My turn!"[/i] I shouted. I craned back wards as wings emerged from my back, and horns spiraled from my head, i then crawled onto all fours. I was in Criosphinx form now, and I let out a thunderous roar into the night, then took flight.
We flew together like two eagles dancing in the skies. It must have been a spectacle to behold from the ground. "Come on, fly up here." I shouted. We flew up, up, up beyond the clouds. The rush of air suddenly went silent as I burst through the clouds, Fiona beside me. It felt like flying into space. A beautiful feeling indeed... "How does that feel?" I asked her, with a huge grin on my face.
