It was the first day of attending Chimera Academy for Fiona Ashby, and she had to admit that she was feeling somewhat nervous about everything. This was afterall her first time ever being involved with a unique school such as this, where mythical creatures presumed to be from nightmares and legends roamed the hallways and the school grounds casually as everyday students. Even though she could count herself as being one of those so-called creatures, she felt like a misfit among them.
You see, all of Fiona's life she was raised to be as a human. Up until now she has always attended the "normal" public schools guised as a human being, and she always felt like she fit in pretty well with them. It was a completely new experience to be attending a school where magic was one of the main courses and the student you're sitting next to could easily be a dragon.
Fiona bit her lip and clenched onto her books tighter as she walked towards her locker, she really needed to loosen up and stop thinking so much about this. Everything was going to be fine, she could make a whole bunch of new friends and learn some brand new things! Most importantly she knew that she really needed to learn more about herself as a "lyre bird," her real true self, it was going to be a once in a lifetime experience.
I don't really know how they will act, but they can't be so different than me, right? Fiona smiled to herself, trying to stay positive and upbeat amongst all this. She was nearing her locker now, Number 126.
The short blonde girl came up to it in a graceful glide, and quickly twisted the dial with a few flicks of her wrist. She flung the locker door open with a loud bang and threw her unneeded books in carelessly. She was humming to herself quite loudly as she sifted through her bag to find her schedule.
Looks like History first...

Quickly and quietly, her footfalls barely making a sound, Seth approached the locker she had been assigned. Despite her having been at the Academy for several days now, this was the first trip she'd made here. Carelessly, she flung the door open and dropped her books in, listening to them hit the back of the locker with a clang.
Sighing, she leaned against the locker frame as she pulled her schedule from her jacket pocket. History, was it? Seth had never cared for events that had occurred in the past. Although, truthfully, she had never cared for events that shall occur in the present or future either. In her mind, she debated as to whether or not she should bother to attend class.
Well, if she did go she'd face nothing but an onslaught of boredom. On the other hand, if she didn't go, what would she do? She'd already explored all of the school grounds in the time she's been here. Perhaps she should attend. It might be semi-entertaining to see how classes are run here.
Returning from the recesses of her mind, she noticed for the first time a girl humming some strange tune, rummaging through the locker next to her. Awfully chipper, wasn't she? Well, her musical manifestation of her contentment was getting annoying. She looked away from the girl - some type of bird, by the scent - as she sorted through her books, looking for the history text.
"Nice song," She had meant to make her voice sound sarcastic, but it ended up being in her normal monotone. Whatever. She'd probably get the implied sarcasm anyway.

So History was Fiona's first class today.
She had to wonder how would this particular subject be taught in the Chimera Academy? She imagined there to be so many hidden secrets in the world's history that humans never would have known; maybe ancient wars were won by the aid of dragons or there truly was a magic Merlin in the old tales of Sir Arthur and the Knights of the Round? Thoughts kept swirling in her head as she continued going through her things in preparation for her class, and now she felt a sense of excitement taking over.
Fiona kept humming her song quite loudly still as she went through her things, it was always kind of an unconscious habit of hers when she daydreamed or felt a bit nervous (a bit of both in this case).
"Nice Song..."
A voice broke Fiona out of her reverie and she jumped a little. The voice sounded feminine, though did she sense some coldness in her tone? She had to turn around and peek over her own locker's door to see who it was.
The voice belonged to a girl standing by the locker next to her, seemingly gathering her things for her next class as well. She was very pretty and had a somewhat dark and somber look to her, though Fio disregarded that. She seemed friendly enough to be commenting on her singing, right?
"Oh hey! Thanks!" She grinned up at the girl innocently, not catching onto her sarcasm or anything, "...I'm kind of new here, I'm just getting ready for my History class now. My name's Fiona, and you are..?"

Seth listened to the girl unemotionally. She hadn't picked up any of the intended sarcasm. Apparently, she had overestimated her intelligence. That happened often. It seemed as though there wasn't anyone able to live up to Seth's standards.
The girl readily introduced herself. Such an overwhelming aura of vivacity and naivete. It was simply pathetic. Then again, not much in this world wasn't. For a short time she considered not bothering to respond to the girl. She was unsure if it would be worth her time, but she couldn't say. Not yet, at least.
"Seth," She said simply, turning her attention back to her locker.
There was no need to say anything more. The girl was so perky that she'd go right on talking anyway. Reaching out, she pulled the history text out of the jumble of books and flipped through the first few pages. So this would be her next class? Listening to how the Duchess Chimera of the Five Rings achieved her crown or about how it was a group of Doraghow that guided Columbus' ships to North America. Barely entertaining, but she'd give it a go anyway.

"That's a nice name! It's really a pleasure to meet you. " Fiona smiled at Seth warmly, trying her best to be as friendly as she could. She wondered what Seth was exactly; she didn't seem to be human. Fiona was really too inexperienced to sense what creatures were underneath their human skins, though she could somehow usually guess if they were human or not at least.
Hopefully sensing other beings will be something taught here... Fiona thought to herself.
Seth was already back to going through her school things. Fiona looked over her shoulder a bit as she grabbed an old history book from out of her locker and began flipping through the pages steadily.
"Ohhh heyyy... Do you have history too? Maybe we're in the same class together?" She beamed up at Seth hopefully.

As expected, the girl continued talking without any encouragement from Seth to continue. By the time she finished flipping through the first three chapters she heard the girl wonder if they would be in class together. Truly pitiful. They had just met two minutes ago and now she hopes that they have class together.
"Perhaps we do," She responded without looking up.
Abruptly, she snapped her book shut and placed it under her arm. Reaching into her locker once more, she pulled out an old journal. She wasn't planning on taking notes for class, however, it wouldn't do to be unprepared if she were faced with other, pressing concerns. With that thought, she looked over at the girl beside her. She studied her appearance with a careful eye before filing it away in the recesses of her mind.
"You're new here," Seth repeated, not bothering to force a tone into her voice for the time being, "So am I, actually... I've only been here for a few days."

So Seth was new to the school as well? She really didn't appear to be a new student by the way she acted, and Fiona was a bit surprised at that. She seemed to have such a cool exterior, and it gave Fio the impression that she had been a regular long-time student at the school. Fiona noted the girl as having what seemed to be a British accent though, so she wondered if Seth was a foreign exchange student perhaps?
"Yeah I am very new, it's my first day today here really..." Fiona nodded at Seth knowingly with a pause, "Wow and you're fairly new here too, that's quite a coincidence then! Are you an exchange student? What do you think of the school so far?"
Fiona looked around the massive corridors with a sort of awe and murmered to herself. "I'm impressed personally..."

Seth took a moment before responding. She had to wonder about her sudden decision to chat with the girl. Would anything come of it other than a pointless conversation where a few nuggets of meaningless information are gained. Most likely not. However, something about the girl was strange. She seemed to have many human qualities. For this alone she might be worth a few cordial words and forced pleasantries.
As she was sorting all of this out, she heard the girl mention something about her being a foreign exchange student. It must have been her accent that brought her to that conclusion. Not that it meant much. This school housed a rather eclectic group of students.
"No. I'm not an exchange student."
With those short words, Seth followed the girl's gaze as she looked down the halls. Was it really so impressive. Seth had never been to a place like this before, so she had nothing to compare it to. Not that that would have changed anything. There wasn't much that impressed her. Taking another look around the halls, she decided to simply give the girl an agreeable answer.
"Yes... It does have a sort of charm."

"I know! I've never seen a school so nice and big as this one," Fiona responded cheerfully, "I'm very excited, it's just so completely new to me."
It was nearing the time for class to start so Fiona crammed more of her uneeded things into her locker and shut it tight. Fiona had hoped to meet more of the students and possibly the teacher before class started, so she had to get going before that little bit of mingling time would be snatched away. She was glad that she got to meet Seth though, it was refreshing for some reason for her to be able to meet one of the students of the school, and it helped ease the nervousness a little bit for her. Fiona looked back over at Seth and smiled.
"Well it was really great to meet you, Seth. If you'd ever like a study partner or anything, let me know okay?" Fiona waved a little good-bye and turned around to begin skipping off to class.

The girl continued to act her cheery self without any encouragement from Seth. She hadn't changed her tone at all, though she knew it would be unnecessary. Some people were permanently happy, and not much would change that. Except perhaps a look at the darker side of humanity. Humanity... Is that even the correct word.
Finally, the girl excused herself, as perky as ever, and left to find her class with a quick mention of study partners or some other nonsense. Halfheartedly, Seth gave her a short farewell wave, which looked more like a salute. She should record this girl in her journal. She may not be human, but she might prove entertaining in the end. With a lethargic nod to herself, she shoved her other books into the locker before leaving to find her first class.
(ooc: So! Do you want to continue in class? Site activity is kinda in a slump at the moment, but we could surely find 1 or 2 others to RP with. You can usually find me in the Cbox, of course^^)
