Yeah Uh, uh, ah
Now I don't care what you dress like Or what you wear But please make sure baby You've got some colours in there Now it's all very well stepping out in black and white But you're no girlfriend of mine If you're doing that right
Now I don't care what you dress like Or what you wear But please make sure baby You've got some colours in there Now it's all very well stepping out in black and white But you're no girlfriend of mine If you're doing that right Music filled the empty art room. One person was in the current room, Ise. Ise was splattered in colorful paint, but the canvas in front of him was nearly blank. Piles of "ruined" artwork lay next to him as he slapped the paint covered brush against his cheek. Closing his eyes after realizing he now had a splat of purple on his cheek he put the brush down and sighed. Sitting back on his stool he thought and thought and thought. He was tired of the "abstract" phase that had plagued his mind for weeks and wanted something new. Something different.
Thinking for a moment he picked up a piece of charcoal. He twisted it about his fingers, not used to the thick pencil and thought. His skin flashed a moment and ruffle of bright feathers could be seen, then nothing. A single feather floated to the ground and he sighed. Sketching out a design he washed off his brush and painted carefully. Get some colours on, get some colours on

Yeah Uh, uh, ah Staring at the finished image he smiled. It was...almost perfect. Perfect as perfect could get to him. Smiling he cleaned his messy area and tried to wash the paint from his now ruffled feathers. Scowling he sighed and looked at the clock. Another 2 periods to go and then he could stretch his wings. Finished Picture:

A noise in the hallway could be heard through the doors of the empty classroom. Voices, high and chattering, saying many things, but not meaning much of it. It was the norm in idle chatter and gossip, and a thing Caroline was so used to. She listened to the other girls chatter on about life, liberty, and the pursuit of shoes, and a little throb of desire hit her. She wanted to paint.
It was fun and all, being the center of attention, but nothing stood in the way of Caroline and her minor impulses.
"Oh my GOD! Courtney was wearing that pink bikini the other day! She swears she won't tell me where she got it!"
"I know! Unfair! I wanted a matching one! Better for beach parties, you know? We could be like, twins!"
"Hold on." Caroline said, stopping the mob of chattering girls in their tracks. "I need to paint."
The girls looked at one another, still unused to the sudden change in her behavior. They' learn soon enough...
"Okay, Car, but be back before school's out. We need to plan for the kick off the year party." One in the mob said.
"Alright." A little butterfly fluttered in her chest. Planning parties was almost as fun as going to them. "Math then?"
"Math." The others agreed, and left Caroline on her own in the empty hallway. She shuddered, not liking the feel of the huge, empty room. She slid the door open at her side, and scampered inside for a more snug feeling. Before the door closed, she saw the boy standing there, inside.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Am I bugging you?"

A girl. A freaking girl. Oh great. Ise froze and stared at the running near boiling water. Crap. And to think one of his feathers was on the floor. Nervously wiping his hands off he turned to her then moved his gaze away quickly. He was growing nervous, and he didn't like it when his feathers were ruffled. Moving quickly to his panting his hand fluttered about the canvas trying to keep his skin in check. "N-no." He stuttered in a Russian accent. Flushing a light pink eh grabbed his canvas and quickly moved to the other side of the room.
Why was it he always got nervous when girls were around? They were just so....feminine....and happy....and pretty. It made his stomach squirm. He always ended up looking stupid and making a fool of himself. Grabbing a fresh canvas he set up his station once more and quickly shut off the stereo.

Caroline watched the strange boy flutter about the empty classroom, covering up the things he had done. He looked like he'd been painting, and more than that, he'd been having fun with it too. The stereo was a nice touch, she had to admit. He put up a fresh canvas, as if he didn't want her to see what he'd been making. She was curious, but she decided not to pry.
Had he spoken with an accent?
"Um, okay then." She wasn't sure if she actually was bothering him, and he just didn't want to tell her. People never told her anything, like she couldn't keep a secret or something! Turning off the stereo was a little too much.
"Oh, hey, what were you listening to? I love music. It helps me get into the mood, you know?"
She began to gather up the things she needed to make her own pretty painting, still wondering what the boy had made. To distract herself from the sheer curiosity, she decided to ask him something else.
"Um... So what style are you into? I like to do fantasy scenes myself."
She had told people that before, and they had called her weird. Who would want to draw imaginary animals? They'd asked. When she'd mentioned it here though, they just looked at her like she was stupid and smiled. Really, what was it with people at this school?

Looking at the girl then quickly turning away he turned the stereo back on silently. Picking up his brush he replied, quietly and softly, but he actually replied. "I paint...self portraits." He replied. The Russian accent seeped over thickly on his words. His lips twitched slightly thinking about all the pictures of the different phoenix's he had painted. Dipping his brush in vibrant orange paint he began to swipe the brush across the canvas. A trance seemed to come over him as he continued to paint. "The beauty of art." He began in his adorable accent, slowly his mind clouding so he didn't realize who he was talking to. "It depends on the person. Fantasy scenes may be your thing, it's what presses your passion on. Me personally..." He smiled ironically. "I love fire...bright colors...and the phoenix." Pausing for a moment his stomach tightened. He paled slightly. How much did he just reveal in his trance? And he TALKED to a GIRL. Cursing silently he struggled to keep his from in his panic.

Phoenixes? The fiery birds?
"Sounds exciting!" She said, thinking of the blossoming colors of reds and oranges. So he liked people and big beautiful birds! Sounded fun. She smiled as the song played on after the stereo was switched on. Something about the boy's cute Russian accent made her feel calm. She was so used to gossip and meaningless bubbleheads talking incessantly about things she could care less on. Sure, it was fun planning parties, but the complex color schemes and overall Zen appearance of the layout of the decorations played a lot more into social hang outs that "that girl in the atrocious lime green dress". Call her a hopless analyst, but she didn't see the use in all that talk, even if it was fun to play into. She didn't know why, but the accent of the boy was a welcome relief. It actually made him sound smarter!
"So... Phoenixes." She had been painting all along, brushing bigger and bigger strokes into her work. The boy had inspired her to put a little more color into it, though she was one to mostly focus on the lighting of her subject. "Sounds interesting. Do you think there are different kinds? Like elemental phoenixes? That would be nice... to have them all flying together... Like a colorful whirlpool of light."

Ise looked at through the corner of his eye. nodding he looked back at his canvas. "I-i suppose i-it wouldn't be t-that w-weird." He stuttered. Blushing lightly he looked down and rubbed his nose. He finished the painting, the bright colors and shades of red yellow and orange exploding across the pale canvas material. Signing his name at the bottom he lightly blew on the canvas. The intense heat dried the paint easily and he hoped she wouldn't notice. His skin had flared a pink color due to the concentration of immense heat and he looked down. Biting his lip he saw his feather still on the floor and he quickly bent down to retrieve it. Stumbling to the sink with his brush he turned the water on near boiling and washed it off hoping she hadn't noticed anything. He knew he'd be in biiiig trouble if anyone found out.

Caroline smiled as the boy stuttered over his words. She was used to chatterboxes all fighting for that one last comment on shoes. It was nice to have a quiet type to hang with. Plus, the stuttering was adorable! She wondered if she was intimidating, and unconsciously one of her legs shifted over the other. She really hoped not... She had been told she was overly outright with things... She wouldn't have noticed him snatch up the big bright feather, but she was about to ask if she was too loud for him. She stopped, looking at the feather's warm, rich appearance, and the nice little golden tip. It must have been from one of the collage bins. It certainly didn't look like a real feather. She silently watched him take it, then go to wash his hands. Hmm. He must have been using collage material earlier... "So, um..." She tried to be a little less confronting this time, feeling the boy's discomfort. "Would you, ya know... Mind if I saw your painting? I really like art, and.... It's nice to know there's someone else here that likes it too." Did that sound too confronting? Maybe if she offered to show her work? "I'll show you mine, if you want." She held up the picture, unsure if he'd like it or not: "It's sorta like a phoenix, right? Well, I added a few things... But it's mostly a phoenix." (haha if you were wondering, I totally did not make this XD too good for me!) (oh, and ditzy me forgot my charie could speak Russian! XD Don't worry, I'll add that bit in next post.)

{lol ok} Looking back at her he knew he might have been making her nervous with his awkward attitude. Trying to be braver he nodded. "S-sure." Looking at her picture he smiled. "It's very nice. Very creative." He said softly. Walking to the other side of the room he tried not to trip over his own two feet. This proved to be quite a task as he was getting more and more nervous by the second. Biting his lip he tried to control his heartbeat. Not to many people ever saw his work and those who did were close family and teachers.
Grabbing his canvas carefully he walked back to his easel and set the painting down. "T-the phoenix can be d-drawn a number of way s-so I find you way to b-be very creative." He smiled shyly. His own canvas had a series of different colors and a beautiful bird perched in the middle. Standing back from the picture he analyzed it and a sense of satisfaction sat in his stomach.
{Not mine either lol}

Caroline snuck a peak at the boy's canvas, nervous about how well done her own was. When she saw it, her jaw dropped.
"Wow... It's beautiful!"
She smiled. Just looking at it filled her with a sense of peace. It was so peaceful, yet so powerful. She smiled at him, and being the bold person that she was, she decided to compliment him in Russian.
"It's the most colorful bird I've ever seen!"
She thought it'd be nice for him. He seemed so lonely here, so awkward. She thought her skills in linguistics could help him with that.

Ise's eyes lit up and he nearly lost control of his skin. A flash of orange tinted his skin a moment then quickly died down to it's normal pale color. Embarrassed and hoping she didn't notice he smiled. Not as pretty as you. He replied shyly looking away. It was a natural reflex for him to compliment a compliment. Such a bother at times though trying to find the proper compliment for a person without seeming a total dork. I'm sorry was that to far? Once in a language he preferred not to keep switching, especially Russian being his native tongue.

Caroline was completely taken by surprise. The good kind. So he did have a talkative nature? She blushed bright red, maybe enough to not see the change in his skin tone. If she did see it, she didn't comment.
"Not at all."
He was so sweet. Not like some of the kids here. She'd met this one kid at the lockers that looked like he had some sort of problem. He was ditching class, and he didn't look too friendly either. The other boys... Don't get her started on jocks. Once you compliment them, they just don't shut up about their touchdowns, or whatever. Talk about self centered...
She smiled, trying to be just as sweet as the boy. She really didn't think she could pull it off, but it was worth a try.
"I'm Caroline. What's your name?"

Ise blushed darkly and looked down shyly. Rubbing the back of his neck nervously at her blush his own blush darkened. "My name is Ise Grimm. It is very nice to meet you." Smiling shyly and nervously his gaze flitted to her face then back down shyly. His heart was racing. He wasn't good with girls. Not at all. Just knowing she was there in the same room with him made him sweat. shifting slightly to busy himself he picked up the pots of paint he used and put them in the sink to soak them.

Caroline noticed his quick response, the way he filled the awkward silence with something to do - and it reminded her that not everyone was as bold as her. She kept forgetting that... She jumped right into helping him, feeling a little embarrassed. Actually, this was the first time she had talked to one of "those" shy kids without a group of people around. It was the first time she hadn't walked all over one.
Was she that lonely here? Everyone seemed to know where they fit in, and she had sort of squeezed herself into a clique, but it didn't feel like home. She felt like she was a different species! (lol, I heart irony XD)
Well, whatever had happened, she would at least be nice to him. Follow her heart and all that stuff. The only problem: Her heart could bite. Hard. She picked up a few of her brushes, absentmindedly going to wash them up, and bumped into him.
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry!"
She should have been paying attention... She didn't blush, only yelled at herself inwardly. She wouldn't be this awkward at a party-
That's right. She had to get to Math.
"Oh, um, sorry! Really sorry!" She couldn't stop stuttering, and her Russian was getting sloppy. "I uh, I have to go! No offense, I uh, have to get to class. I'm sorry! Um, but, you can see me later, right? I'm sorta throwing a party..." She was scrambling to make amends, "Yeah, I think you'd like it. There'll be a lot of people. And fun music." She recovered a little, her Russian once again becoming flawless. "And I promise if you come there'll be a lot of colors. You know, artsy stuff. It's at the Sorority Houses, Saturday."
She was walking away as she said it, having rushed to clean up as she had spoken. She got to the door, and it looked like she would leave, when suddenly she turned around.
"Meet me there, alright? I'll be looking for you"
And with that she left. She could already hear the bell ringing, telling her she was late. Perfect. Just perfect. She looked back at the art room door, wondering. Would he come? She really hoped so...

Purple water splashed his shirt as she bumped him and inwardly he laughed at her awkwardness. He noticed her Russian getting sloppy and shook his head as an assurance it wasn't that big of a deal. Stepping back his gaze widened slightly at her rather forceful apology and speedy choice of words. Was she ok? He slipped the pots into the sink just watching her rattle on. A tad annoying. He wasn't trying to be mean or anything but her forwardness....unnerving.
A smile twitched at his lips as she freaked out. "It's alright." He replied quietly. He looked into the sink then felt his heart skip a bit. A party? Wringing his wrists nervously he thought it over. Going to a party? He'd never been to a party mainly because he didn't care much to show up. She'd be looking for him? He blushed and stared at the door as she walked out and shook his head. ".....maybe."
