Chasity couldn't believe what was happening. Over all emotions, her shock had completely taken over all her senses when Kendryek told her about this meeting. Shock was still prevalent over her anger. In fact, there wasn't much anger at all. It was almost purely shock. They hadn't been at this school for one week and already he was playing match-maker? Yeah, he did this for all of his 'loves', but she had never really thought that it would happen to her. It was... surreal. There was no way this was reality. Kendryek loved her! ...or did he? He would never let her go this soon! ...or would he? Her mind was still in confusion even though it had been almost two whole days. Maybe the fact that she was following her lover through a beautiful forest to give her to someone else, maybe the fact that it was actually happening this second, made it all too impossible to believe.
But this was happening. There was no way around it.
He had explained his thoughts to her when he had returned from his late night walk. Although he had insisted that he felt very confident about this man, he wouldn't even tell his name. He had claimed that this man needed to introduce himself when they met him. It didn't make much sense to her, but once Kendryek made up his mind there wasn't much that would change it.
Kendryek walked steadily in the woods. Although there wasn't an official meeting place, he and Whisper both had a good sense of smell. Chasity, too, would probably smell him before she even laid eyes on him. With every fiber in his being he hoped that this would go well. This was a chance in a lifetime for the both of them, for she and Whisper. Whisper was willing. Kendryek was willing. Was she? He sure hoped so.
She had known this was coming. Like all the others, he had explained to her what was going to happen. Like all the others, she had been stubborn enough to go along with it. Like all the others, her parting would hurt him. But it would be nothing like what he had suffered with his first love. A heart numbed to the pain of loss wasn't a good thing, but Kendryek wasn't perfect, he knew. No matter how lost he was, he recognized the damage and he tried his hardest to keep others from the same fate. It was a 'Do as I say, not as I do' thing.
Something in the wind caught his attention. There was a faint smell of Kitsune floating in the air. It wasn't too distinct, but if Chasity was paying any attention she would catch it too. Glancing back at her, he noticed that her eyes were glazed in thought. She definitely wasn't paying attention. That could turn out to his advantage. Still, she probably didn't know exactly what a Kitsune smelled like. That could be good, too. Knowing that Whisper could change genders might ward her off. It wasn't like her to let something like that bother her, but in this state of confusion he didn't know what to expect.
Kendryek stopped and turned toward the sunset. It was directly the center of where the sun shone in all it's fading brilliance. Such a strange thing, the sun. He understood it because of modern science, but it was still an awe-inspiring object, more so than the moon. Without the sun, the moon wouldn't have the same effect.
Looking past the sun and into the fathomless depths of the universe, he imagined the stars that he'd seen on countless nights, sometimes smothered by the city lights, sometimes shinning as bright as they had when he was young. So many decades of life he'd lived, so many left to live, and the wonders of life still amazed him. If Chasity wasn't with him and Whisper wasn't close by he would have laughed out loud like a little child. So much awesome power and might his Creator had, such unmistakable imagination and creativity!
Kendryek sighed deeply as he restrained the oncoming excitement that threatened to consume his entire body, soul, and spirit. This was not the time to be enjoying all his Master had made. "No," he caught himself, "it is the perfect time." He whispered the words to himself, leaving Chasity to wonder about the meaning of them. Even though he was about to lose her, he closed his eyes and allowed himself to relish all that God had made. He didn't know why he had never allowed himself to become lost in Him at a time like this before now. Perfect peace enveloped him as he felt the warm rays of fading sunlight penetrate his skin.
Maybe Chasity was different after all. In losing her, he had remembered how to lose himself in all of God's glory and power and might. This was definitely the right thing. Whether Whisper accepted her or not, it was finally time to let her go.
OOC: I keep leaving you doorways for Whisper to say 'no'. I don't like people forcing others into corners. If Whisper really doesn't like her, that is perfectly fine! I don't mind at all!
