"Trust me, I will earn that title... Chasity..." he said with a murr, licking her neck a little more. Then he heard her suggest about them changing back into their human form. He raised his ears to scan the surroundings and said "Even though there's no human in the surroundings, you're plainly right...". In a second, he was the handsome man again, sitting on the stump with her by his side.

Chasity felt a shiver as he said her name. It wasn't the one she liked most, but that just might be about to change. The way he said it... no one had ever said it like that. That wasn't completely true. Her husband, now dead along with her little girl, had called her 'Chase' in the most mesmerizing way. That left her with some satisfaction. Her husband had called her 'Chase', Kendryek had called her both, and now Whisper called her 'Chasity'. It was a good mix.
Whisper donned his skin once more. Jumping into his lap, she licked his chin before quickly jumping off and changing back as well. She turned back to him and smiled shyly. Biting her lip, she took a tentative step forward. "So... you wanna take a walk?"

He wraps an arm around her and, for a brief second, she'd feel all his tails as well. "It will be an honor, to walk with someone possessing such beauty." he said, smilling gently to her as his eyes fixed into hers.

Chasity blushed deeply. She had meant simply holding hands while enjoying the birdsong and the wind. But... she guessed this was okay. Then he called her beautiful. He looked into her eyes, but she quickly slipped away from him, turning even more red. Now around ten paces away, she stuttered. "No, no... um... one thing... uh... about me: don't... don't give me compliments... not so soon at least. Flattery... I tend to shy away from it." She bit her lip again, hoping he would understand.

He watched her reaction for a moment. "Oh, I understand... Kinda like when I used to be a student in a high school... Under the disguise of a shy boy, I used to shy away as well whenever anyone mentioned my beauty. What was weird was that even other boys flattered me. That always creeped me out." he said "So, shall we?" he then offered his hand.

Chasity nodded, glad that he understood. She shyly took his hand and they started to walk. She took as much enjoyment as she could out of this moment. It had been a long while since she had been shown affection other than Kendryek's odd methods, those of which included actually talking more than ten sentences at a time without starting to talk to himself, teaching you martial arts, keeping an unseen eye on you, and in general just caring for you. Now that she was with Whisper it all seemed so dull.
"Thank you," she said. If he wanted to know for what, she supposed he'd ask. People always did.

"It is all my pleasure..." he said to her, looking into her eyes as they walked. Then his eyes watches their path again. As their feet crushed the twigs and leaves in their path, he began to hum a song. At first, one would say it was not a song, because one would simply follow the scales. However, in nature, there was not exactly a scale to follow. He hums the song of nature, the various notes you can hear as the wind hisses against the leaves and whistles within the trees. A magical music that no magic could recreate, for it was impossible to foresee what would come next. He hums in unison with nature.

Chasity listened to him as he hummed. She closed her eyes and used her ears to walk, half her concentration on the sounds around her, half her concentration on his voice. Humming was only one way of 'singing' and she could only imagine what he sounded like full out instead of held back like he was. It didn't matter right now though. They were walking peacefully and his song was beautiful just by itself. The notes ran through her head as he hummed them. They ran in no particular order, but they mixed well and drifted off into the woods. A small, faint echo played across the land too. That made it all the more pretty. It was almost as if he had a soft accompaniment that didn't dare show themselves because of certain instructions. Almost. It was still just an echo.
After her little 'freak out' episode, she was sure he would find her odd if she rested her head on his shoulder, but she did anyway. A slight pain was growing in size at the back of her head, slowly moving to the front to cause less comfort. She knew she was odd, but now it was his turn to find that out. Hopefully he wouldn't mind.

He continued to hum the song. He didn't mind when she wanted to get a little more comfortable and let her head rest on his shoulder. He found this all a very pleasing moment for himself: Someone finally by his side again, him humming a song to her, the nature making this song for them... Everything in perfect harmony. Perhaps, even their heartbeats? His heart was finally racing, after all those years of lonelyness faded away in a seconds.

Chasity smiled. Kendryek had never let her do this. Her late husband had also been much more reserved than Whisper. It was too early to be thinking of marriage, but... wait a second! Chasity stopped walking and pulled the engagement ring that Kendryek had given her out of her pocket. It was pure diamond with facets that sparkled brilliantly in a patch of sun. There wasn't a speck of any kind of metal in it. "I forgot to give it back to him..." she whispered. She looked up at Whisper. "I... it's Kendryek's. He... I..." She reached out her hand. "Could you give it back to him for me... you know, whenever you see him next..." Her face was flushed. It wasn't exactly the most moral thing to do, giving your new lover your old engagement to give back to your ex-fiancé, but she wasn't sure she could do it herself. Maybe she could if Whisper was there? No, it would be better for Whisper to give it to him.

He held her hand and slowly closed it, encasing the ring within her hand. "Chasity... I know you must feel ashamed for handing it to me to return it to him... But I'm not the right person to return such an important item to him. Well he introduced me to you, was to ensure both of us could be each other's happiness. Give it to him and show him gratitude for the good times he gave you, and for bringing us together." he said.

Tears brimmed in Chasity's eyes. He was right. It was something special that she should give back to Kendryek. She nodded, holding the ring close to her. It had meant a lot to her for the past nineteen years and she was finally going to let it go. It would be hard giving it back to him, not the giving back part but the fact that it was Kendyrek. They had just parted, and she was sure it still hurt him. She wasn't sure how he would feel about her finalizing the arrangement. Oh well. That couldn't be helped now. The only factor was her getting up enough courage to give it back to him. She was going to be really, really happy with Whisper, but... still. She wasn't sure how quickly she could just throw away her feelings for Kendryek. Finally slipping the ring back into her pocket, she smiled weakly at Whisper.
"Sorry, I completely ruined the moment, didn't I?" She laughed, or at least tried to. She wasn't quite sure how to continue the conversation. She hoped that Whisper would.

As the tears pained under her eyes, he wipes them away in a gentle motion. He witnessed her made her resolve and smiled gently. At her question, he had not much to say other than "You did not ruin the moment. I expected it to happen. Yet, for this moment you learned an important truth: You're always in his heart. If not as his promissed woman, then you are his friend for his whole life. I know about friendship born from the end of an arrangement, for I too experienced it before. That kind of friendship never fades.".
He gave her a gentle kiss on her cheek and said "Friendship is too a kind of love..."

Once again, Chasity nodded, trying to ignore the fact that he had kissed her cheek. She laughed, choked by tears. "I needed to hear that." She sighed, content. "Maybe he was right." She stared off in the distance, a small smile on her face. "Maybe he knew it would be like this?" Looking back at Whisper she smiled fully before laying her head back on his shoulder. Sliding her hand back in his felt so natural she did it without thinking. "But enough about him. It's us now."

He didn't even dare mention anything else about Kendryek anymore. She said it was enough about him, so he agreed. It was time to think on their new life. His arms around her, he said "Yes, we got to think about our life together. One thing I can promise you for sure: My heart will be with you."
