"Is your cousin's name, by any chance, Aeron?" She asked Areyna.
Arabella had heard rumors about the dark boy with the short temper and the black eyes that could be described as 'burning into your soul'.
She saw Le Cyll go back to the man and bring back some ice. Wrapping the cubes up in her towel, she placed it back over her face. The blood had stopped flowing, thankfully, but she imagined how messy and disgusting she probably looked.
Arabella grimaced involuntarily at the picture in her mind. The black and blue eye was swollen, surrounded by dried blood.
Eww....
Unfortunately, she was very self-conscious. But that didn't stop her from noticing something about this Le Cyll.
"You don't look like a doctor," she commented. "You look like you could have given me this black eye, not help me heal it."
Ara did make a point. Le Cyll looked very threatening with his facial features and intimidating eyes. Although, his voice didn't match at all. It was very kind compared to what Ara had thought it sounded like when she first spotted him.

"Common mistake." Le Cyll tutted, replying without much need to embellish. "Judging a book by it cover, I think is the saying?"
He was going to stop there, but it sounded like too little to him. The more information he gave, the less questions were asked, because it made him seem less mysterious in the long run. He knew he looked a little strange. Not exactly devious, but he did have distinctive features that could easily reflect how inhospitable he was. Especially the eyes. Everyone wondered about the eyes, and as he saw the girl take a look at them, he knew she was thinking the same as everyone else.
"Rare, that I should have gray eyes, I know. It's a trait passed down through my family."
As he recalled, his father had the same flat, lifeless gray color eyes.
It was extremely difficult to make those eyes look kind. They were wolves' eyes - not an animal to be taken lightly in any account. He remembered how his father looked perfectly hideous when he was angry. His eyes would be two sharp chips of searing gray light, and it was very dangerous to be close enough to see them when they were like that - as Le Cyll knew through experience. His own eyes were perfect replicas of his father's, every bit as sharp and lifeless.
"But then again, so is everything else about me." He smiled.

"Y-ya. That is my cousin!" she was surprised. They had just gotten here a couple of hours ago and his name was already known. "How do know him?" her blue eyes sparkled with curiosity. Is this a bad thing....

"Well," Ara said. "I heard some stories about him. He's very infamous at the moment."
She was well aware that there was a student named Aeron. She also had seen him in detention earlier that morning, talking to a familiar blonde girl.
"When I was walking in the hallways, I saw Aeron go into detention." she added. "I realized he was your cousin right away. You two look so similar."
Le Cyll then said something. She put her attention back on him. When she heard him say that his gray eyes were a family trait, she knew far too well what he was going through.
Arabella Thorne had her mother's eyes as well as her grandmother's and her great aunt's. Several other cousins had the same forest green eyes also. They were a strong family trait. Every single female in her family had them.
"But then again, so is everything else about me," Le Cyll smiled, which made Ara's heart skip a beat. There was something about him that frightened her.
"Well, yes," she hesitated. "I suppose a male in your family has those same gray ones?"

"Yes" Was all Le Cyll said.
All mockery and acting aside, Le Cyll had an unusually cold, impersonal voice - almost robotic in its lack of emotion. It wasn't cruel, nor was it angry. Those were both emotional concepts. No, it was as lifeless as his eyes were - devoid of any feeling. It could even be described as eerily calm, as he did not speak in a monotone. His voice was as fluid and changing as any normal voice, simply free of any other voices' humanity. This sound, though it was the way he most comfortably spoke, was almost never heard by other people.
He found they did not like it. The desensitized way it sounded unnerved them, scared them. That is why he always disguised it with some superfluous emotion. Some kind of joy or contentment or anything else that made it sound normal. It worked well most of the time, but when he was upset, he found it hard to control the fake voice. The real one always seeped through just a little bit.
It did that now, as he spoke, so he kept what he said next brief and to the point.
"My father, and his father, and all the males up the line have had gray eyes."

"Me and Areon look alike?" Areyna reapted to herself. She spaced off in thought when Ara turned her attention back to Le Cyll. No ones ever told me that before....its strange. We're not even blood related. But Areyna never mentioned she was adopted so Ara had the right to think they look alike. A small smile appeared on her face followed by a tiny quiet chuckle. Wait till i tell Areon. I wonder what he will say?She brought herself back to Ara's and Le Cyll's conversation. Something about grey eyes being a family trait and how they are dull and lifeless. "Hmmm....grey eyes. I don't think they are dull. They're interesting and different unlike blue eyes which are so common." Areyna didn't relize she was thinking outloud.

Le Cyll regained some of his composure at this, willingly drifting away from subjects less appreciated.
"Actually blue eyes are the most rare color, followed by hazel, then green, then brown. Colors like mine are in a separate category, because not enough of the population has them for it to be considered an actual eye color. They are then considered mutations."
Nothing like a little trivia to calm him down, though on one account he would be considered wrong. He did not figure in the eye colors of all nonhumans. They are another statistic altogether, and one with so many different variables that he wouldn't know where to begin to find what was the most common eye color, or any of the others, for that matter.
His eyes were derived not from a mutation, but from a species. All in his tribe had gray eyes, but the males had the more striking ones.

"O-Oh." She placed her hand over her mouth and blushed. "I-I um....." What do I say? How embarassing. "We-Well I-i think they are ummm.....pretty...." Areyna felt like disapearing right than and there blushing harder. I think they are pretty? What am I saying? Hiding her face again she tried to maintain composure of her beating heart.

Variables... He was running through them now. Oh, so many different species. He picked a few of the most common, then did the math on those, after which he estimated heavily the eye colors of the rest of the species, simplifying it ridiculously into one single variable. He added the two together, and mentally appraised his work.
He did not like it. There was too much room for error. The equation had to be airtight, and as so many things are concerning life, the airtight equation would be inequivocally complex. He mentally threw out the equation, finding it repulsive to think about.
It was only after that that he noticed the one girl's embarrassment over her stuttering.
Oh right... What had she said? Something about his eyes being pretty? He quickly re geared and brought himself back into the conversation.
He thought he'd respond with a little courtesy. She looked like she needed it.
"Why thank you. Not many people say that about them."
A little too much charm? Maybe, but he doubted she'd notice. She was too busy drowning in her own little lake of social awkwardness. She wouldn't be focusing on how he'd said something, just what he'd said. Either way, he'd made himself sound very appreciative.

Arabella had been listening to their conversation quietly and thinking about her mother as every thought lead her back to that subject. Le Cyll had said something about all the males in his family having his gray eyes. It was the exact same in her family, only with the females.
Then Le Cyll talked about how rare each eye color was. Ara agreed that her eyes were not as rare as Areyna's.
She listened again as Areyna said Le Cyll's eyes were pretty. He'd given her the response she wanted and thanked her.
Carefully removing the towel off of her face, Ara saw the stain, even darker this time. She touched her eye and felt that the bleeding had stopped. She was also surprised that the swelling had gone down too.
"Well, the bleeding stopped...and the swelling," Ara noticed the time on her watch. "Oh, and it's lunch time."
She walked over to a bench where her stuff was. Carefully, she folded up the dry towel and put it inside. She shrugged back into her backpack.
"Thank you very much...for everything," She called to Le Cyll and then faced Areyna. "You wanna come with me to the cafeteria?"
She then thought it was rude to be inviting Areyna to come to lunch with her and not the boy who had helped her.
"Le Cyll?" she hesitated. Maybe he would like to join them? "Do you want to come too?"

Le Cyll thanked her and Areyna ,face still covered forced out a "Yo-Your welcome." Than she heard Ara asking her if she would like to join her at lunch. She asked Le Cyll too. Areyna looked up noding shyly her timid eyes shifting to Le Cyll for his answer.

Le Cyll looked up from the other girl, trying to keep up with what the first said.
It wasn't that it was complex or anything... but had he heard her right?
She had asked him to lunch with the two. Not a slight gesture by her standards, he was guessing. She was the shy kind - very cautious and almost never the first to make a move socially. Then why was she asking him?
Ah, he hated figuring all this out. So complex! He liked it better when the caribou was food and the wolves were his delinquent brothers, and all else was small and insignificant. Then again, it was a daily challenge to understand what exactly made these other nonhumans function. It occupied him, to say the least, and he did love puzzles.
He'd say that the puzzle of behavior was the most complex one he'd tried to date. So saying, he'd be wise to have at least the corner pieces in before he started on the inside.
The girl was obviously grateful, and who was he to be rude about it? Maybe that is why she extended this kind gesture... out of some form of gratefulness. He did not want to appear unkind, and having a few people that liked him as opposed to that Ailyth girl would be a welcome change.
An attempt at friendship, then. He put on his best friendly smile.
"If it isn't a bother, I'd love to."
See? He could be nice. Not really. He doubted he could really be capable of anything too generous, but it worked well enough to consider them more a cover. And, if you went by his acting standards, he could be the most forgiving, most loyal, most caring friend. He'd do fine.

"Great!"
Arabella smiled. She needed to be nice and invite him to lunch after the way he had helped her.
Again she looked to her new friend, Areyna. "So....I guess I'll see you guys at lunch?"
She didn't bother looking back at her for a response as she turned her back on both of them. If Areyna and Le Cyll joined her or didn't join her, it wouldn't matter much. But then again, she could use the company.
Ara quickly grabbed her tennis racket and left the courts.

Areyna quickly ran for Ara. Standing next to Le Cyll alone was a little awkward. Yet that was kinda rude. She tried not to think about it still blushing.
