Le Cyll's ears twitched at the sound of Kendryek offering him the mushrooms. Of course he would want samples..! They did look strange indeed, and as knowledgeable as he was with botany - he had grown up in the forest, after all - he was much more interested in its effects on the bodies of creatures.
Botany was nice, as all pure, clean sciences were, but experimentation was more so addictive. Come to think of it, he could not count the endless hours he'd pent huddled over the lab equipment since he had first come here. Testing things, just to see what they would do. Just to take a peek at the microscopic structure of the material.
Le Cyll had always had a strange fascination with processes. Clocks, cars, machines, plants, poisons, paints, detergents... all of these things has some form of interacting with their environment, whether it be chemical or mechanical. He would take things apart and build them back up, or add various ingredients to an acid or base to see how it reacted. These workings fascinated him. It was no wonder he had become a physician, devoted to the inner workings of the various mythical bodies.
No... it wasn't a wonder. It was a convenient career choice for him. He liked seeing how people worked too, and that was the eventual path his many tinkerings ended at. It would first start out with the gears of a watch, and eventually it would end with some fun little gear-propelled machine that tore limbs off of people. It was all inner workings, and it all worked out just as it should.
Exactly as it should. Always. So reliable.
Le Cyll, for the first time since meeting Kendryek, shifted into his human form and took the bags with a polite half-bow, half-nod.
"Thank you."
Then, remembering himself, he added a bit more to the conversation.
"It would be interesting to know if they are separate in their use, or similar, wouldn't it?"
Then, hearing Kenryek's mention of something else to do, Le Cyll took a proverbial step back.
Literally speaking, it would be the equivalent of him loathing the idea of more social contact. The wolf smiled kindly, not out of spite but more with a reluctant motive so carefully shielded behind the perfectly played grin.
"Oh I think I'm done for today... I intended on a bit of afternoon sport, and ended up almost being eaten. I think I'll go back to the castle and bury myself in my studies, if you don't mind the solitude."
It sounded very hesitant as to his position in leaving the dragon here, but in all reality there was no option in the matter. Le Cyll was leaving, whether it be by small gesture of good-bye or another sort of verbal manipulation. He was thankful for the extended living period, but he considered there to be no debt payed back by verbal contact.
That was just barbaric a thought.
