Remebering

Shade gazed at the beautiful stars and wondered how it had all went so wrong so quick so long ago. She remembered her twin brothers and her irritable father and her mother….”oh my dear beautiful mother. She used to sing the most beautiful songs and always on a night like this….maybe I can remember one of them….” “This is my winter song to you…..the storm is coming soon...it rose in from the sea…my voice...a begin in the night my words will be your flight….to carry you away…” “Oh if only I could remember...”
Shade sighed sadly and tried to remember the winter song her mother sang almost every night to her but the pain slowly increased. Shade tore her eyes away from the beautiful night sky and wandered through the empty observatory. Her steps echoed through the building reminding her of those playful days when dad was gone and the children played. Shade sighed once more as she tried desperately to forget those happy memories that could never be again.

Chase was wandering around and ended up in the observatory. He quietly walked in but his foot steps sounded very loud to him. He looked around at the night sky thinking to himself that the sky is so dark and cold.

Seeing the quiet figure emerge from the door Shade rushed to a hiding spot out of habit. She crouched into a tight ball behind one of the many table sets and listened to the person. She could tell by the heavy footsteps and small mass of short hair that the person was male and she tried to remember all the boys she had met and Chimera Academy so far, it wasn’t a very large number then the boy started in her direction. Out of instinct Shade growled low at the stranger then quickly caught herself and started to pinch her nose just to make herself stop.

Chase looked in the direction of which he heard a growl come from. He looked out the corner of his eye to see if anything made a movement.

Seeing the boy look straight at her Shade panicked. She stood stock still and refused to move locking her eyes on the dark figure in front of her. She remained in that position and watched as the boy turned his head to look at something else. “Ha” Shade thought “he thinks her can trick me!”. However instead of relaxing her muscles when the stranger looked away Shade remained as stiff as a board with her eyes locked on her target.
“Crap! My eyes glow!” at this sudden recognition Shade squeezed her eyes shut quickly not knowing if the stranger had noticed

Chase seeing a light from the corner of his eye turned back around and headed in the direction he saw it from. Chase walked in that direction until he heard something breathing. Chase stopped as soon as he heard the breath of a scared living thing judging from the heaviness of their breath. He did not want to go any closer because he did not know if it could see him or if it was something that would attack him if he got to close. He stood there waiting to see if it would show its self after a period of time.

The boy moved closer to her looking straight at the table she was under. “What do I do? What do I do? This is silly! I shouldn’t have hid in the first place! Why do I have to be so jumpy?! Oh look a shooting star! Focus you stupid girl!” while part of her mind seemed to be off on it own adventure with shooting stars shade tried to focus the other part on what to do at this moment. She felt like a trapped animal and then Marcie, Shade’s large purple top hat fell out of place and onto the floor. Shade caught her breath and bit her lip to refrain from jumping out to get her hat. “oh I am so going to be expelled if he sees them!”

Chase looked at were the girl was looking and saw the shooting star as well. " It's pretty isn't it" he said to the girl.

“oh um…..ya um…” struggling in this awkward moment Shade moved swiftly and tugged the overlarge hat under the table then shoved it on her head past her ears before moving out from under the table her heart pounding as she noticed the resemblance of some name that was lost in the back of her head in the boy. Shade started twirling her long black hair in her fingers as she began to get nervous for no apparent reason. “um…. The name’s Shade I’m new here.”

My name is Chase I am new too. I just wanted to wander around a bit to see where every thing is.

“Um ya well…..” Shade hated awkward moments and this school seemed to be full of them. Well it’s about curfew so we had better be back in our dorms…….right? Well I already forgot curfew so ya…..” Shade could simply not think of what to say and Marcia was not helping as it slipped down over her eyes and nearly past her nose. “Stupid hat!” muffled Shade from inside the fuzzy purple top hat.

I dont care about curfew this school is crazy if they think I am going to listen without being told to my face i won't listen if it is on some piece of paper.

“Ok……” this boy didn’t seem to think she was weird at all! What a relief and he is kind of…Don’t think that! OH you worthless ADD mind! As soon as he finds out how weird you are he will just go back to pretending you’re just a scared animal! Well then what do I say?” Shade sat tapping her foot while thinking .

Chase looked at the girl and said "so.......What is your name?" Chase feeling awkward and trying to break them from this silence.

“well I already told you my name but if you have already forgotten it’s Shade and the hat is Marcie but she never stays up on my head in the right way and is always falling in my eyes” Shade had begun to grow slightly hyper as the boy was not being mean he was trying to make conversation and this meant he didn’t think she was a crazy fool!
