Coyle slid quietly down the hallway, making absolutely no noise at all. It was pretty easy, if you didn't actually have to touch anything. Phasing out of reality really had its perks!
Then, out of the blue, Coyle felt itchy. Yes, itchy! It wasn't as funny as it sounded, alright?!? His fur was thick, and who knows what kind of inter dimensional ticks were digging around in there? He phased back into reality and promptly begin to drag his side against the rock wall.
"Ahhhhhhhhh."
He kept his tentacles pointed forward, but his thick purple-black fur dragged along the rough walls leisurely. Little did anyone else know, there was more to this odd behavior than met the eye. Gargoyles may see well in the dark, but they weren't very quiet. Their loud, stony bodies made such a racket, and they were especially well heard if you could pick up vibrations. It turned out being itchy had its rewards, because just as he reached a dip in the oh so crumbly tunnel, he took a step to the left and avoided a pointy granite tail.
"Found 'em!" He called, inching to the side as the creature crawled its way blindly through the dark, feeling for heat or noise it could use to locate its prey.
Funny thing about cave gargoyles, they didn't actually see well so much as they [/i]felt[/i] well. The same vibrations Coyle had used to find the little bugger could be used in turn to find someone wandering down a dark passageway. The gargoyle swerved at random intervals, its little spiny tail swishing as its claws felt for anything warm or moving. Coyle remained perfectly still, only twitching his whiskers slightly at the rest of the tunnel.
Gargoyles traveled in hordes. That meant where there was one, there would be at least six more, if not a hundred or so.
"Don't move now, everybody!" Coyle called, and the little spiny tail lashed out, nearly hitting him across the snout. Oh right, he needed to shut up too.
That would be harder to do...
