The rain came down rapidly, soaking all the unlucky ones to get stuck in it. He had been one of them. As the looming storm clouds blotted out all light, the thick gloomy darkness overcame the formerly clear azure sky. The rain was out of no where in such perfect weather.
Through the falling crystal shards of the oncoming rain Lucifer could barely see as he ran toward Deadwood Manor. Atop the old hill in its solitude, solemnly it stood complimenting the grotesque surroundings.
Lucifer dashed up the the steps of the worn wooden steps, flinching a bit as the made small squeaks with his every step. He proceeded cautiously into the wrap around porch, he couldn't help but wonder how long the manor had been without residence.
Wandering with exhausted gasps for breath to settle himself against one the old walls near an antique rocking chair, he slid down to sit on the floor wincing as it made another creak. He slowly took off his glasses, his vision went into a complete blur as he used the corner of his soaked dress shirt to clean off the slur of rain dropped that stained the glass lenses.
Putting them black on he pushed back some wet strands of white hair as he continued to pant. Luci had been running for a while, he was in the Necropolis when it had began to rain. Being unfamiliar with the area, he had ran and ran finding himself here.
Only vaguely did he even remember where he was, even more vaguely did he remember what had happened here. He had heard very little about the murdered royals and their restless spirits. Though indeed this sparked his interest, he would never wander in somewhere like that... No way.

Yama jerked awake. He looked up at the old roof, hearing the rain splattering across the top. What was going on? Where was he? Why was he in the rafters? Standing up, he stretched his front legs and then his back. He was in the old manor again, but... oh, that was right. Hendrix had been messing with a girl so he had left. This place was almost more of a home for him than that room in the hotel. Hendrix used it so much that it was painful to think about.
He stretched his back before he stepped out onto the main beam that spanned the entire width of the entrance hall. It must have been one large tree that was cut to make it. Reaching the middle, he balanced himself so that he could lay down. He wasn't going to sleep again but because it was raining there were bound to be mice and the middle was a vantage point. It wasn't like he was going to have to jump down from way up where he was. His little disappearing and reappearing act was just as good.
Just as a mouse came out of hiding, the front steps creaked scaring it back into its hole. Drat. He glared at the door. Whoever had just run up those steps better come in. If they were going to scare his dinner they better open that door. If they didn't on their own he'd make them and oh he had ways of making them. It was amazing what someone did if they heard a pitiful cat's meow.
After a few more minutes of waiting he transported to the wooden floor. He was so ready to pounce on something right about now. Oh, he was so very ready... but, that would have to wait until later. For now he wanted to get back at this person, whoever they were. How he would get back... well, he probably wouldn't. He never really was one for killing people if he had absolutely no need to... like, if he was told to, he would, but he wouldn't do it for himself. No, he would probably just invite this person in, whoever they were...
Walking to the door, he scratched at it and let out a pleading meow. Now that should get their attention. It was loud enough, he knew that. Only if they were deaf could they have missed his cry.

Lucifer's panting decreased as he stood up, shaking his wet hair, he leaned against the door frame. A small meow sounded from behind the door, Lucifer's senses jumped back to life as he jerked away from the door. He eyed the door considering whether or not to let the vile creature out, he never a big fan of cats. His true form being in basic a dog sized rodent, one wouldn't have to wonder why.
But his better nature over took him, he creaked open the wooden door with a heaved sigh, he couldn't help but smirk, as he was greeted with a seemingly adorable calico cat. Emphasis on the seemingly. Nothing adorable around here was harmless... or what it seems.

Right before the door open the smell of rat infiltrated Yama's senses. Ooh... so a large rat had scared off the small mouse... how... ironic. Too bad this puppy was probably too big for one meal... it was a shame, really, how the food knocking at his door could not be accepted. It was practically a present from heaven that he would have to throw out the door. Well, it wasn't like he actually ate the mice he caught. It wasn't even like he killed them. If he had been any other cat he might have actually thought about killing this large rat that was outside the door, but not him. He didn't like rodents. They tasted bitter and sour and just all around disgusting... fish were good though. He liked fish. They were juicy, tender, flaked off as one bit into them, and those shiny scales made for great wind chimes...
The door opened and he walked out, rubbing his back along the person's leg. He didn't know why he was acting like a normal cat. Well, he was acting that way cause he simply felt like it, but he didn't know why he felt like it. It didn't matter. This encounter would be nothing but whimsical actions on his part. Of course, the rodent in human form above him would probably think a little more about it, but Yama just didn't care right now.
What the heck?! There was no point in this! Why do something that was pointless?!
He walked over to the old rocking chair, jumping up on it when he got there. The creature sitting there, though, wasn't a cat, but a human. It was amazing how skins worked. They were shed and donned so very easily that one could pull something like he had just done with minimal effort.
Resting one arm, he used the other to prop up his head. He looked at the rat out of the corner of his eye; lazy and uncaring eyes. He said, "What brings you here? The rain obviously. Are you hurt? Of course not. Are you soaked... most definitely..." He sighed and rested his head against the chair. He glanced down at the ancient wood he was 'sitting' on and said, "I'm not really sitting on it. It'd break if I did that."
Standing up, he walked to the railing, extending his hand so that it caught droplets of water. "So... what brings you here?"

He watched as the calico cat donned the skin of a male, looked about about his twenties to Lucifer. The general demeanor of this guy was fascinating but he couldn't help but be a bit skeptical of the fact that he was prey, though more than likely bone-y and lanky with not enough meat, still a feast for some sort of feline. He really hoped that wouldn't be how he died. Luckily, the actions of the cat seemed so completely uncaring to this simple detail that he figured not to bother with tending to the immense bad vibes he was receiving.
During his skeptical studies upon the former mewing feline his conclusions were clear and concise; a Cheshire Cat, thus the whimsical air and the floating. As well as the way of speaking. Lucifer couldn't help but smile, he loved his ability to pick things out from the smallest details.
Leaning against the dorm frame again he smiled with a sigh as he watched the Cheshire Cat catch the droplets in his hand.
"Did you not just state my reasoning already, other than that I must say pure curiosity." Lucifer replied, shoving his hands in his pockets idly. "Is this place actually haunted or is it merely rumour?" Of course, he was assuming the man to be familiar with this place. He could be wrong but it was good conversation none-the-less.

Yama couldn't help but laugh. It wasn't one of those cynical laughs, but one of the ones that actually made him sound genuinely amused. "Ah, come now! Don't leave me to answer my own questions! Here, let me be more precise. For what reason were you out in the rain so very far away from the town in the first place? You were doing something before you had to shelter here, and here is more foreboding than the town, vampire infested as it might be. Personally I rather the ghosts of the manor than the walking dead of the town."
He added the last part as a sort of answer to the question. Only sort of, though. He'd never seen any ghosts, and he'd been staying here for a few months, but then again, he wasn't a creature that could actually see ghosts unless they showed themselves. To really find out if this place had spirits crawling along the grounds and living in the walls, someone would have to have a nekomata or kitsune accompany them. He was neither and quite enjoyed that fact. Nekomatas and kitsunes both tended to be more... solemn. That would just be boring!
"Boring boring boring!" He drew out the words to where he was almost singing them. "Nothing so boring as here and now and nothing to do but... well, nothing." He chuckled at his little 'statement'. It was meaningless, quite like everything else he was doing. It only made the evidence of his boredom more evident. That would either cause the stupid rat to attempt to entertain him or their conversation would be over. That wouldn't be good though. That would leave him more bored than before. That just wouldn't do. "Not you, of course. Just... this rain... I don't like it. It's... wet... noisy... water... and wet."
There was no point in adding that. There was absolutely no point in anything he was doing and it was driving him insane. In quick movements, he clapped his hands together and strode toward the door. His voice when he spoke was energetic and enthusiastic. "Come! Let's do something entertaining! This rain is making me drowsy and I don't want to go back to sleep! I just woke up for crying out loud! This is no time to be sleeping the day away! Company is here!" And just to creep out the rat he added, "Launa! Charles! Wake up you silly ghosts! A guest is here!"
His cries echoed throughout the entrance hall. There was no one else but the two of them for at least a mile. Well, there was always that stupid mouse, but...

The cat's spiel was strange and took much to consume. Though Lucifer couldn't help but let out a bit of repressed but genuine laughter at the last part. He couldn't tell whether to be offended or amused.
"I was just wandering the Necropolis in search of amusement, I guess. No such luck though." Lucifer replied with a smirk. He even honestly didn't know why he was out before he had gotten here in the first place. "I got lost in the rain and found myself here." Trailing off he stared into the rain...
Lucifer sighed audibly. "And what might you have in mind as far as amusement goes?" In a way it was Luci's most contempt to ask, who knows what this guy found fun. There was something about him Lucifer didn't like; it was probably just cause he was a cat and Lucifer was a rat, but in a way, he had the vibe not to turn his back on him. Probably, a good instinct to rely on.

Yama nodded. The Necropolis was an interesting place. As previously mentioned, he wasn't one to see spirits or ghosts, but that place definitely had something living there. It was probably a cross-over point or something. Come to think of it, the attic of this place had the same feeling. Maybe there were ghosts here.
"Launa, Charles, did you hear that?", he said to thin air. "He was at the graveyard! Were you two lead him here? Naughty naughty nekotachi! Getting lost in those wretched woods would be so very awful! One would never get out by themselves! Did he pass by your graves? Was that why y'all suddenly left me? Ooh, that's mean! You left me for him? Oh! I'm offended!" He crossed his arms childishly and stuck his nose up in the air. He wanted this rat to think he was nuts! It didn't hold much reason or purpose behind it, but at least it was fun! Giving weird first impressions was always amusing, even more so when they realize that you were acting to weird them out.
"Amusement? What do I find amusing, you mean?" He stopped and looked as if he was thinking hard. This was such a contrast to the calm persona he had carried when he had first spoken with the rat. This was what he found amusing, but for now... what could he do to freak this guy out even more?
He pondered the question further before remembering the children games that he had seen in a closet. They were surprisingly modern for an old house. Someone had probably lived here like he was for a short time and had become bored. That must have been it. "I'll be right back!" he told the rat, only vaguely realizing he didn't know his name. He'd have to get that from him later...
Only a minute later, he walked into the room carrying a game called 'Trouble' and another one called 'Trivial Pursuit'. "What about these? I've never played them, but they look interesting!"
