She slowly brought her mind down to the same level as her body. Calmer, calmer she told herself, and once she heard his voice she was calm enough that her mind didn't suddenly make it irritating and grating, which happened sometimes when it was a voice she didn't want to hear. What came to her ears was a softer, gentler voice, asking her to listen. The unicorn looked at him for a moment and nodded slightly, more out of curiosity than genuine trust.
The unicorn was silent beneath him for a moment, glancing away for a bit, contemplating something. After she made the decision on her head she looked back at him and traced through his eyes, looking for token things that usually gave her reason to be afraid of distrust someone. She searched for malice and hatred, she searched for prejudice and scorn. In his brown depths she searched for all forms of evil, she searched for greed, pride, and insanity.
It would be a blatant lie to say that she didn't find any of these things in his eyes, and that, under normal circumstances would be enough for her to pipe up and say "I don't trust you", but she didn't say that. Because when she looked in his eyes searching for the things that would make her fear him and things that made her not trust people, at the same time she found so much kindness that the small amounts of evil behind that became inconsequential to her. He was kind, that much was true, and that she could not deny.
Her prior anger seemed petty and childish even to her.
"Sorry," she muttered, "for freaking out."

Shoutoku felt his lips twitch into a small smile as she calmed down and did as he asked. He could see her calming down and the anger slowly left her eyes. It had worked! He wasn't sure exactly what she had seen with her young blue eyes, but whatever she had seen had worked! It hadn't scared her and definitely didn't flash a red light.
He nodded silently when she apologized, releasing her wrists and standing up. Stepping to her side, he held out a hand to help her up. He had also been in the wrong... there had been no need to gloat like that. He knew it would make her mad and he did it anyway. That was not something he tended to value in characteristics. He hesitated before saying, "I apologize, too. I believe I was being a little... I haven't fought in a long time and I became a little carried away. For that I am sorry."
Taking a deep breath, he jogged over to her jacket, then to his. Tossing her her jacket, he smiled and sighed.. "Well... I still have nothing to do for the rest of the day and this," he held up the small bag of meat jokingly, "isn't going to sustain me for much longer. I'm gonna head to the dining hall and grab something more substancial. You can come if you like."
After all that had happened in the last ten minutes he wasn't sure if she'd agree, but it was worth a try. She trusted him now, no matter how little. Despite his inexperience, he still knew the effect that being trapped brought to a young girl. To calm down and appologize in that kind of situation showed one of two things: considerable trust or, more likely, considerable mental strength. Whichever one it was, their friendship wasn't over.

It was strange. Every time she fought she won, even against someone larger than her. It was something she rarely did to be defeated like this. Defeated. That word was so utterly and completely disgusting that she could hardly stand it. She couldn't shake her head and say that she hadn't been defeated because that was a lie. What was her current win-to-loss ration? About 214-1? Yeah, that sounded just about right.
Once she was released, she sat up and rubbed her wrists. He hadn't hurt her, but they did feel like he'd cut off circulation. When Gunner say him offering his hand she took it despite the fact that she knew she could get up on her own. Once she was on her feet rage suddenly rose to a feverish pitch, but she calmed down releatively quickly. This rage was different than the rage she'd felt before. This rage was a type of rage that wasn't directed at Soga specifically, but towards the fact that she had been defeated,
Aeon Gunner took her jacket and slid it back on, reaching into her pocket and pulled out her of chocolate which she began to eat slowly, nipping and chewing lightly while following Soga back to get something to eat. She hadn't actually heard him ask about getting food, but she figured that if he was going somewhere and didn't want her to follow he'd tell her so before they got too far from the school grounds.
