Although Shoutoku could hear Gunner up and about, eating and such, he didn't take his eyes from the screen. He was almost done with this one problem, after all. But... in actuality, he wasn't sure what to say to her or what to do. She'd just spent the night in his room. He hadn't lain so much as a finger on her!
Wait... had he? The knot in his chest grew as he remembered the feeling of that 'kiss'. No, 'kisses'. It had been more than once, and although it had been to save her life, the way he had felt while he did so could not be forgiven.
He waited for the heat in his face from the memory to subside before turning in the chair and standing. Wordlessly he walked over to the rabbit, gently prodding the stiff form to see if it was still frozen. After all, it had been sitting out for quite a while.
"Meh, its still not ready." He frowned at it before looking at Gunner. "I guess we should go find your necklace now. Come on, I'll fly you there." He held out a hand to her, smiling slightly. "Unless you'd rather run, that is."

Aeon Gunner
[/blockquote][/blockquote] Gunner watched him work with a sort of childish curiousity, though she was obviously not curious enough to want to stand up and take a glance over his shoulder to see what he was doing. She was too busy wondering about other things.Yawning she rolled over to see part of his face. The unicorn wondered if she was seeing correctly and if Soga's face really was tinted. Perhaps he wasn't working on something as innocent as she thought he was. He was an older guy, who knew what they did.
A black eyebrow arched upwards when he proclaimed the rabbit not ready yet. Of course, the young female didn't know what constituted a ready frozen rabbit, so...
Looking towards him when he offered his hand and the prospect of flying to the alley where it had all happened to try and track down her necklace, she nodded and took his hand, smiling slyly. "Perhaps I'll run back. But I think I'd like to fly there." With that she climbed out of the bed again, yawning softly.

He smiled at her and took hold of her hand before he caught himself and let go. What was he thinking, taking her hand like that! They weren't even that close of friends and he was being very immature. What was wrong with him...? Walking over to the window, he looked to see if she had followed him.
"Get on my back, it's easier to get out this way." Hopping up onto the window sill, he began to slowly stand. "I know you don't like heights, but hang on tight! The rough part is only the first few seconds!" With that he jumped down from the widow, changing to griffin almost immediately. He landed like he had done earlier and took off in the same fashion.
As they leveled out, he realized that he had been showing off a little bit. He really was acting immature. It was as if Shoutoku was a little boy and Gunner was the first girl he'd ever seen, doing anything he could think of to impress her without communicating his feelings. At least he was a griffin; he couldn't blush.

Aeon Gunner
[/blockquote][/blockquote] The female was confused, glancing at her hand and then at his. She couldn't understand why he'd taken her hand and then let go so suddenly. Had she done something bad? No, to the best of her knowledge she hadn't done anything wrong. Soga had offered his hand to her and she'd taken it because that was what she was supposed to do, right? That was what was expected of her, right? In her normal dense or perhaps blunt fashion she said, "Is something wrong?" she asked, tilting her head slightly as she followed him to the window.
Gunner climbed onto his back and clung like a monkey holding for dear life. She wasn't sure why she had agreed to fly there, knowing that it would cause this reaction in her. The unicorn know that she would cry out in terror when they jumped off the ledge, which was silenced as though suddenly there was no more air when they hit the ground.
She finally had the courage to open her eyes. Below her was the ground, and the only thing standing between her and imminent death was the griffin whose back she was currently riding on, those powerful wings kept her alive. With her cheek pressed to his feathers, she turned to look at his wings, flapping powerfully to keep himself in the air. Aeon watched them as they beat. It was something for her to focus on until they touched down.
Once they were down, the female slid off his back and looked at the alley. Her clothes, in almost unrecognizeable tatters were still there. She ignored them and was bent on finding her necklace, her head sweeping from wall to wall on the ground while like searchlights.

They landed and Gunner jumped off his back. His claws clicked on the concrete as he walked around, also searching for the necklace. Although he could have changed back to human form he simply settled his wings against his back. He noticed Gunner's glance at her tattered clothes from the night before. As if it was nothing he walked over to them and snatched them up, putting them in a trashcan. The less there was to remind her of what happened the better.
He looked over at Aeon, a smile touching his eyes. She was so young now, but she would blossom into a beautiful young lady. He took a deep breath and quickly turned away. He still didn't know what was possessing him, but he would have to hide it, this slowly growing feeling. As he walked past a dumpster he said, "You're quite cute despite what you say, ya know. Especially when you're asleep."
He didn't realize how creepy that made him sound, though it couldn't be any worse than his initial analysis of her schedule when they had met in Tooth Sweet. It also showed just how socially inept and awkward he really was. To him it was a simple compliment. To her... not so much.

Aeon Gunner
[/blockquote][/blockquote] Aeon looked around, not noticing the service Soga had just done her by cleaning up her tatters of clothing and putting them into the trash. It made revisiting the site a lot easier. After only five minutes of searching, she found her shoes but no socks. That was fine. Even if she had found her socks, she'd be more than a little hesitant to put them on after they'd been laying on the dirty ground of the alley all night.
Gunner lifted her shoes off the ground and turned them over. When nothing fell out (nothing living at least, though there were a few pebbles and molecules of dirt that fluttered out), she tucked them under her arms and continued looking.
At his first words, color rose to her cheeks. And for the first time in years her fingers reached into her hair and she took a few strands, running her fingers over them repeatedly, as a nervous gesture. Of course, the next sentence made the color drain out of her face and stop walking.
"...What?" She ask, a creeped expression as well as a "WTF" one on her face. That one line just replaying over and over in her head.

Shoutoku lifted up a trashcan and looked behind it before setting it back in its place. Gunner’s tone caught his attention. She had sounded disgusted, almost freaked out. He turned toward her, his eyes confused. In reality, while he was a griffin, his eyes were the only part of him that showed emotion. One could tell readiness, weariness, and other such things by his posture but nothing too intricate.
He took a few steps toward her. “What’s the matter? Did you find something?” Maybe her necklace was crushed? He wasn’t sure what exactly could bring that kind of tone from her, but she was definitely displeased. It didn’t even dawn on him that she had been responding to him. He thought it was something she was looking at.
If one were to see him, to be an onlooker, they would have looked at him with pity for his lack of understanding in such matters. Either that or they would assume that he was feigning innocence and chuckle to themselves at his immaturity for saying what he had in the first place. If the former was assumed, the onlooker would have had to wonder what kind of environment Shoutoku had grown up in to have been placed in such a strong innocence bubble. They’d be even more confused if they realized just how experienced he was in the subjects of war and tactics.
Even as he waited for her answer he continued to let his sharp eyes sweep across the ground, searching for a sparkle in every crevice. There was no telling where that necklace had fallen. It was best to leave no square inch uncovered.

Aeon Gunner
[/blockquote][/blockquote] Aeon took one look at his eyes and realized that he'd truly meant that to be a compliment, and that served to freak her out even more.
Really, she'd spent the entirety of her life on an island and then a boat, yet she understood this stuff. He was 10 years older than her and probably hadn't lived on a near-deserted island or on a boat, yet didn't know this stuff? He was a griffin! He was the first person who was supposed to know this stuff!
"Uh, no, I didn't find anything, but..." She was quiet as she continued looking around at the ground searching for her necklace. "But... you were watching me sleep?"
Gunner waited for his answer, knowing it would confirm what she'd thought in the first place. "Do you have any idea how creepy that is?"

Shoutoku flapped his wings to move away some of the debris in one of the corners. Nothing. Again. Part of him wondered if they were even going to find it or if it was even still here in the alley. Someone could have picked it up. He frowned at the thought.
He looked over at Aeon, raising his eyebrows slightly and shrugging. "Well, ya, you were kind of fitful and I was worried. I've studied medicine before. Therefore, as your tending physician, was it not my duty to make sure you didn't catch a fever?" The last part had more of a professional touch to it, but it was true. Any one that knows medicine automatically becomes responsible for those near them that become sick.
Going back to searching, he decided to humor her and continue to respond to this meaningless conversation. She was obviously uncomfortable but he couldn't quite figure out why. "No, I really don't have idea how 'creepy' that is." He was curious as to why it bothered her, but something told him that it would be awkward if he knew. Better to stay oblivious then...

Aeon Gunner
[/blockquote][/blockquote] Her hand went up to her face and rubbed it softly, releasing a soft sigh. He sounded so authoritative. Gunner didn't answer well to authority. Especially creepy authority. That was what turned her away from authority to begin with. So, she searched her brain to try and figure out how she was going to explain this to him in a way that wouldn't make her seem snippy and impolite, but at the same time got the basic idea across.
This would be difficult.
After some time, she said, "Alright. So... doing something involving someone else without permission is bad. Sleep is a time of great vulnerability because the body doesn't have reflexes of the same caliber as awake. So you, a man 10 years older than me, watching me in a state where I was completely vulnerable without any sort of consensus from me... is creepy." She ran that over in her head a little to make sure she had explained it like she wanted to, and figured that she wasn't going to get it any better than that.

So it was his age, was it? She was creeped out because he was an older man and probably assumed his mind was where every other guy's was. He faced her, his laughter clear although his wrist was in front of his mouth. She was really way too cautious with him.
"Aeon, you are forgetting one little detail. I'm a griffin. I spend my days locked in my room watching video feeds from my classes and doing nothing but studying in my spare time. Nonetheless, I get what you're saying and if it was any other guy I'd fully agree with you." He paused a second deciding what would calm her a little more, at least to the point to which she'd let him fly her back. Presently he was pretty sure she wouldn't. Still smiling slightly with an amused face, he continued, deciding the doctor/patient analogy would be best.
"Think about it for a second. I have my bachelors in medicine and you, for all purposes, were my patient. I was up late anyway working on a fourth-dimensions theory I put together a few weeks ago so I monitored your vital signs for a few minutes. Is that such a crime?"
In reality he was saying that he had been awake, for no apparent reason, and couldn't take his eyes from her sleeping face for a little bit. It all depended on how one stated it, though. Shoutoku, thankfully, was just as good with words as he was with medicine, so it didn't take much for him to say something quite creepy and make it sound perfectly fine. So was the effects of reading.

Aeon Gunner
[/blockquote][/blockquote] The unicorn nodded as he went along with what she was saying, but tried to explain it away with using his sheltered griffin-ness along with using a bachelor's in medicine to get her to swallow the bitter pill that he'd done it merely in the name of her health and safety. But see, Gunner wasn't stupid either. Her grades weren't the best, but the fact that she'd spent some nights in a corner of the library curled up with some distinctly non-fiction books ensured that she wasn't stupid. She chuckled softly.
"So basically what you're saying is that you were hit with a random bout of insomnia and couldn't help watching me for a while," Gunner said, raising one eyebrow, searching for confirmation. She'd come to the end of the alley and her previously smiling face fell to a sad frown. "It's not here."

Shoutoku, still smiling, shrugged at her assessment. Who cared if she knew his real intentions. She no longer seemed too bothered by it. After all, she had been smiling. "Make of it what you will. I'm sure your imagination is capable of taking it places it shouldn't, but hey, that's not my problem."
Well, it kind of was his problem. If she thought he was some weird pervert that had a crush on her, that would not end well. He couldn't be sure of his own feelings, but he didn't want unnecessary tags placed on him.
He stared at the wall in front of them before looking at her. "I guess we'll have to go back then...?" He lightly placed his fingertips on her shoulder. "I'll come back out tomorrow and see if I can find it. I might find someone else to come too, get a new set of eyes out here. I don't think we missed it, but... still." Taking her hand he walked toward the main street. "You know what?" He looked at her, a soft smile hovering on his lips. "I kind of feel like walking back. You up to it?"
