Today is noisy and crowded. Where did all these people come from? Sophie placed a hand over her forehead watching strangers roam the cobbled streets, enter and exit from shops. Some held in their possessions many bags while other carried few to none. This school definitely wouldn’t make it on your average academy list. No, it wouldn’t belong in an average school catalog or at least it shouldn’t. Not only was the school mysterious with it’s abnormality, Sophie new of the abnormal people who occupied the dorms, the classrooms, the halls. Her “normal” life as an average human being changed course after meeting her not so average little furry friend. Knowing of the creatures that shared the same world as her was beyond magnificent In her standards and often she felt disappointed. Disappointed for being human. How incredible would it be to be born a unicorn or a dragon or even a nekomata? Yet, she was merely human and that’s all she’ll ever be.
“Oh, don’t start now.” She whispered to herself. “Humans can be just as amazing as mythical creatures. Besides, if you were meant to be something else then it would of happen. Fate has a purpose. Yes, Sophie……Ay caramba, I’m talking to myself again. I’m starting to pick up weird habits from Kevin.”
Sophie plucked the silver glittered pencil that she found abandoned in her science classroom from its comfortable spot behind her ear. Unzipping her small tan carrier bag she retrieved a black note pad flipping a few pages until she landed on a blank one. Studying a few more strangers she scribbled down random observations about them, about the buildings, about the stone, practically about anything she could think of. She read over her findings with a small smile yet unsatisfied.
“This would make for a decent newspaper report but a boring one at that.” She said. “Bleh. How many people in this world would seriously find interest in people watching?”
Finding a random student she followed them with her eyes till they disappeared from sight. She wondered if she was human or not. She would love to figure a way where she can tell. They just looked so…normal. Chewing on the end of her pencil she shifted in the decent sized bench sighing as she placed the writing utensil behind her ear again putting the notepad in her bag. Spreading her arms across the top of the backboard of the bench Sophie tilted her head to the blue sky painted with hazy white clouds. She sighed, slung her bag over her shoulder, stood up and smoothed out the wrinkles forming all over her baby blue sun dress. After she finished with her necessary maintenance she began walking deeper into the market street just for the heck of walking. In all honesty she was quite bored. Maybe she’ll find someone interesting to talk to. For her sake, maybe.
