Cassiel spoke honestly to Reynard keeping to secrets of what had transpired
"Ezekiel was seen unfit for this assignment, God had seen fit to replace him with myself." He gestured to himself, and continued
"Ezekiel used this human body for his assignment, so I took it over for him." He kept his reply short, watching Reynard stayed crouched. He knew it was a lot to figure out, especially in the middle of a sparring match. Cassiel spoke once more to clarify himself
"My name is Cassiel, I am an Arch-angel. I work under heaven and the Holy Father, now if you would like to continue with your training then I will be happy to oblige this to you." His face stayed soft, he had no hard look on his expression. His white eyes stared at the Kludde in front of him, he tilted his head to the side slightly stood relaxed and waiting. He smiled then, it was a small smile but noticeable to Reynard.

Reynard wondered at Cassiel. So this was an arch-angel. How very fascinating. How often did one get a chance to spar an angel never the less an arch-angel. Reynard doubted he would ever get an opportunity like this again. He would grab this chance while it was offered to him.
Reynard knew he would lose but he would learn from it while he could. He crouched and leapt to the right of Cassiel extending one wing to hit him. It was more of a test to see what the angel would do than a serious attack since his wings couldn't do much damage.

Cassiel watched Reynard leap, he moved rather slowly in his eyes as he sailed at him with his wing outstretched. He made no move to stop it was the wing connected with his jaw, his head whipped to one side. He turned back to his opponent now in reach of him, he pulled his leg up swiftly and sent a kick at the Kluddes chest. He kept his speed at he same pace of Reynard's, he wouldnt beat he boy to death. The kick to him was slow and easily dodged, he had no intention of using full force on this creature as Ezekiel had almost done. The kick shot forward looking for the chest of Reynard, he foot flat as he sent out he blow.

Reynard twisted using his wings to carry himself just above the kicks path. He landed on the grass several feet away. He was glad the sky was so grey it meant that he probably wouldn't overheat. His true form had its drawbacks including the fact that he overheated easily. However today he could go all out.
He wondered what strategy to use. He was outmatched in virtually everything, strength, speed, battle experience. He was virtually guaranteed to lose. the question was, how much damage could he inflict on Cassiel before he went down. He continued pondering as he slowly approached Cassiel once more.
Finally he decided on a desperate strategy. He would wait until he and Cassiel were close to each other and then instead of attempting to throw hit or anything like that, which would be the safe thing to do, he would attempt to leap once more but this time he would extend both wings in front of him and to the sides so Cassiel's couldn't move to the sides to escape. Then Cassiel would either be forced to attempt to strike directly at Reynard in front of him leaving his sides and back open to Reynad's wings or claws if he attempted to block the wings. Or Cassiel could gobackwards in which case Reynard still had a chance at hitting him with his wings since it was far harder to move backwards than it was to move forwards.
Reynard hoped desperately that his plan would succeed. It was more complex then he would have liked and would totally fall apart if anything went wrong. He didn't want to lose without getting in at least one blow

Cassiel watched Reynard, his white eyes following every move. His looked almost lazy standing the way he was, he knew that didnt fool the Kludde. Something about Reynard taking a longer moment than usual caught Cassiel's attention, he was starting to recognize opening and movements. Reynard had entered into a distance comfortable to him, he leaped sending his wings to either side of Cassiel his claws outstretched in front of him.
The only down side to his attack was that every thing was based on a frontal assault again, Reynard had no tactic to his moves besides covering openings and keeping his opponent under his control. Cassiel shot out his hands grabbing the tips of Reynards wings just out of reach of his claws, he pulled them to him and held them right in front of him. He pulled a little harder to cause a small amount of pain, Cassiel spoke softly with a smile
"Covering your bases in your attack is fine Reynard, but you also have to think of what any opponent can do in defense to your attack. Dodging blows is nice, but if you can get a handle on your opponent and cause pain like this.." He pulled the wings together a little further, sending another shock wave of pain at Reynard
"You can do a whole lot more damage and take anyone down without putting as much effort as.. pulling strings on a puppet." He let go of Reynard's, they were very close. He stood before him and spoke once more
"Try again, this time think of every possible angle I can take to stop your attack." He stood fast again and waited.

Reynard was getting mad. All he could do was get defeated over and over again. Even his desperate plan had failed ending up with him totally at his enemies mercy. Now his wings hurt. On top of that his opponents advice made no sense. He was a Kludde how was he supposed to "Get a handle on his opponent" Kludde didn't have opposable thumbs they could only grab stuff with their mouth's. Which would leave their heads open to any counter-attack. Not to mention he had tried to guess Cassiel's next move and it had ended in his worst defeat yet.
Reynard picked himself up once more feeling the bruises of all his other falls as he stood up. What could he do? He was slower than Cassiel and weaker, but he could fly and had more ways to attack. Surely he could combine those together and manage to do something.
A tentative plan struck him. It was a gamble but if it worked then he would finally have managed to have harmed Cassiel. First he spread out his wings and started to pump. First it would allow him to start flying and second it would block Cassiel's vision of Reynard's tail. While he was lifting off the ground Reynard used his tail and wrapped some dirt that was left over from one of his previous falls. Keeping it wrapped in his tail he flew over Cassiel just out of his reach.
Now for the risky part of his plan. He would shoot his long tail at Cassiel and all the dirt he had grabbed would shoot at him as well. If Cassiel noticed the dirt then he would have no choice but to either try to block it, shield his eyes, or close his eyes to prevent the dirt from getting in his eyes. Using this distracting Reynard would drop-attack with all four of his claws in a quick swipe at his face and arms and then use his wings to pull himself out of Cassiel's range before he had a chance to retaliate. Hopefully it would go better than his last attempt.

Cassiel watched Reynard float up, his wings moved up and down to give him the flight. He flew close, just out of reach where Cas was standing. Suddenly the Kluddes tail shot out, Cas watched the dirt fling strait at his face. He brought up both arms in defense to the dirt, he couldn't stop the beast from jumping on top on him and knocking him down to the ground.
Large cuts could be seen on Cassiel's arms, blood started to flow from his forehead and into his eyes. He looked up at Reynard with a surprised look, using his tail in that fashion had distracted him long enough for Reynard to make his move. He layed flat on the ground, his shirt now torn and bloody. The cuts from the beasts claws had connected with a nerve in his left arm, he lost all movement in it. Curling his legs up he shot both of his feet up to meet the Kluddes chin, he couldnt do anything else without his left arm. His legs shot out quickly, still making sure to cut his speed to give Reynard a chance to see it coming.
He figured if Reynard stepped back he would be able to stand again and try to fend him off with just one arm and his legs, he knew it would be tough not using his full abilities. His kick went sailing up to meet Reynards jaw, he used enough force to send him reeling backward but if he missed he knew he was in trouble. Reynard was directly over top of him, his teeth and claws close enough to do some serious damage. Cassiel knew he would be in for a world of hurt if Reynard stayed this close, he hoped the kick he sent up landed.

Reynard had done it! He had finally managed to strike the elusive Cassiel. Not only that but it looked pretty bad too. However now there was a kick heading straight for his jaw. Ideally Reynard would have been able to simply duck and hit Cassiel again but he had overextended himself a little on his last attack. All he could do was jump backwards and give up his hard fought position of power. I galled him that he had finally managed to get in an attack and then had been instantly denied any follow up attacks. However the last attack had proven that he could hurt Cassiel. Unfortunately now he had lost the element of surprise.
Once he had avoided Cassiel's attack he decided to capitalize on Cassiel's weakened state and steoped back into range on Cassiel's left where his arm had been worst hit. Hopefully it had been hurt enough that he would be able get another attack in. Once more he attacked with all his claws.

Erzbet had been walking...perhaps slinking was a better word...aimlessly. She rarely spoke to anyone and was quick with her homework. Who knew a jungle education would come in handy? Just thinking of it though...the beautiful trees, the smell of constant rain, the sound of prey whimpering when they knew they were beat...she felt the acute ache of homesickness. Fortunately she was distracted by a rather odd occurence.
It was a man of obvious power fighting a student. The man was teaching the boy a lesson, but the boy seemed obssessed with only winning. It was curious. Why did he want to win so badly? The man could probably kill him easily. The boy couldn't win unless the man let him. Erzbet stayed to the shadows of the wall, grateful the day was gloomy. She just couldn't get used to the glaring sun. She only saw it in patches in the jungle when she happened to go out during the day.
You are entirely too sure of yourself. Erzbet thought, watching the boy. Don't you realize you're fighting a master? She pressed herself up against the wall. Her dark hair framed her face closely. Her golden eyes glowed with curiosity. The boy would win or lose, depending on the man's will. It would be interesting to see which he chose.

Reynard attacked once again, stepping off to Cassiel's left side where he couldn't use his arm. The Kludde attacked with a leap, sticking his claws out ready to dig into his flesh. Cassiel's face was stone as the flying wolf came steadily closer to him, He waited for just a moment longer when the beasts claws were past his waist and close to his torso. He kicked up his left leg and spun to the right, keeping his back on the ground. Using his hips he wrapped his leg around the beasts arm, he swung his other leg around and wrapped that into his leg and around the arm as well. The claw was now just above his groin, the beast now only having 3 feet and still swinging to the ground. Cassiel used the leverage and the weight of the beast to swing himself up turning Reynard as he did so, he sunk his hips lower to his shoulder and using his right arm gripped the wrist of his claw and bent it forward. Cassiel landed on his back again, this time with an elbow and wrist under his control. He hadn't caused the beast any harm with this, the Kludde now layed on his back as well, Cassiels feet sat on the beasts right shoulder so he couldn't use his claws and dig them into his legs. He applied a small amount of pressure with his right arm onto the hand to send a small amount of pain up the beasts arm, he spoke calmly
"Now you will defend." He let go and stood up, using his right arm he tore the shirt from his body and threw it to the side. The cuts that the Kludde had hit him with were deep and still bleeding, he placed a palm over the largest one and watched a gold light seep from under his fingers. He lifted his hand and the cut was gone, the skin smooth and untouched, he did this to all of his wounds then. Still covered in his own blood he turned back to the beast and spoke
"You did well, just think a little more and you'll do fine." He popped his shoulders rolling it and stretched, he spoke once more
"You will defend against me now." He turned then and noticed the shape in the short distance and yelled to it
"Your welcome to train with us." he turned and looked at Reynard on the ground and said
"Get up and move 30 paces to the other side of the field, your going to need the distance." he said those words with a half smile on his lips, he was going to test his defense in every aspect. He knew the boy had the right idea about attacking but did he catch the defensive side to it as well, he turned and watched the figure in the distance for a moment before turning his back on it and walking a couple of paces out facing the opposite side of the field.

Reynad was once more on the ground after being defeated by Cassiel. Apparently Cassiel wanted him to defend now. Reynard was fine with that but Cassiel also healed all of his own wounds. Reynard himself was still covered in dozens of bruises and cuts. Reynard had earlier stipulated that neither side could use their powers. Which included magic.
Reynard decided not to say anything though. He glanced over at the figure watching them before walking backwards to gain some space as Cassiel had recommended. Now the question was how would Casssiel attack, from what Reynard knew of the man it would probably be in an unexpected way.
Reynard crouched down preparing for Cassiel's attack.

Post by Vincent D. Barnett. on Jun 9, 2010 19:13:12 GMT -6
Vincent was sitting at the top of the building and had been watching the men fight for a little while, he felt a little sorry for the young wolf who was clearly not as skilled as his opponent. Vincent was not sure why they were fighting but was kind of excited about it, though he had just arrived at the school him self there already was action taking place. Vincent noticed a young women at the base of the building of which he was on, his attention went right back to the men in the field though when the one spoke to the women. The man had welcomed her to join as well though he was sure that she would Vincent decided he would see if he could not join in, so he hopped down off the building landing about three feet from the young women.
Looking over to the young women he smiled " you should join it looks like fun, i think i will see if they will let me in on the fun" he said as he then turned to face the two men in the field. "Hey mind i get in on this?" Vincent asked to the man who was clearly very skilled and could more then likely take them both at once. So as he took a few steps out onto the field he stopped and took of his sandals placing them on the edge of the field, "so if you dont mind me joining are there any rules i should know" he paused "i wont transform if that's the rule just let me know" he then stopped and waited for a reply from the men

Erzbet's first thought was to say no. She wasn't social. That including sparring. But, as she watched, she realized she wanted it. More than almost anything. She'd been a good little girl as of late. Going to class, reading her books, keeping her human skin on. She wanted to fight. It had been weeks since she had attacked anything. She'd ever refrained from attacking those clearly weaker than her. It was no small feat for someone who'd grown up in the jungle. She stepped into the sunlight, squinting.
She moved forward with obvious grace that was somehow still feral. Fun? She'd never fought of fighting as fun. It was usually a "kill or be killed" attitude. But she did enjoy it. She gave a small smile and ran her tongue over her abnormally long canine teeth. Try as she might she just couldn't get them down to a human size. That, along with long nails and strange eyes, made her look... not quite right as a human.
"What are we doing?" She asked quietly. She looked at the boy, now bruised and battered. She wasn't so sure she would do even as well as him against the man. Perhaps she would fare better against the newcomer? She looked over at him. It was so hard to tell who was what these days.

Vincent smiled seeing the girl come from the wall to join, he then heard her ask the young boy what they were doing. Smiling Vincent looked to the young women and gave a bow, "my name is Vincent D. Barnett, and it would seem that the man there is trying to train the young boy". Vincent spoke not knowing for sure him self what was going on but he thought he might take a guess at it, "perhaps we should spar and leave them top there training" he said to the young women still smiling. "I would be more then happy to spar with you, i will even allow you to set the rules of engagement if you would like" saying that he then turn his eyes back to the field for a moment. Vincent then turned tot he young women giving her his full attention, "so young miss what do you say, would you like to spar with me" Vincent asked as he stood smiling and waiting for a answer.

She gave anothe small smile at his bow It seemed strange, showing such courtesy then asking to fight. "I am Erzbet Bathry." She'd been conversing on a daily basis for only a few weeks. Often her manner of speaking sounded stilted and strange. She was also very blunt, as she didn't understand the art of half-truths. "I've never fought without trying to kill my opponent." She said. Even in her limited experience, she understood this could be threatening to someone else. In her mind, it was just a statement of fact. The jungle was a kill-or-be-killed-and-eaten kind of world. Just living as long as she had meant either she had killed or someone had killed to protect her. But her classmates saw her thin human form and assumed her harmless. It made her angry. Which in turn made her shed her human skin and show them just how harmless she wasn't. That might be why she hadn't made any friends.
"I suppose leaving the other alive would be a good rule, wouldn't it?" She asked, proud of herself for managing even this poor attempt at a joke. The boy had mentioned something about not using their powers. Did that mean she had to keep her human skin on? She didn't even know how to fight in this form. The nails were flimsy, the teeth were weak, and the lack of fur left her feeling exposed. No wonder humans didn't do well in the jungle.
