Ciel merely narrowed his eyes at Davin, not believing him for an instant. The rational part of his conscious stated the fact that if Davin had wanted to hurt Aalish, he would have done so already. That of course was crushed by his instinct which reminded him of all the times reason had failed him. He simply crossed his arms and glared at the Garm through the strands of blond hanging in his eyes.
"I'm not ashamed to say I trust my instincts more than a stranger. Besides, people lie."
It was true. No matter what the species, beings lied. Whether to gain a false sense of trust or to avoid confrontation, it was almost always for their own benefit. As for the immaturity comment, his merely set his jaw, resisting the urge to snarl at him. He sensed an eagerness about Davin that seemed to want conflcit, and yet he kept it at bay with words.Ciel flickered his gaze backwards to Aalish, who was looking from him to Davin. He knew she wouldn't help him, and he didn't want her to. She was simply too easy to injure, and he didn't feel like having that on his conscience.
"Aalish, it would be safer if you would relocate."
He didn't make a move as he looked back at Davin, sensing the tension rising as he sitrred under his skin. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Aalish tensed as she heard Davin's words and looked back to Ciel, almost questioning with her gaze. What had made him think that Davin would hurt her ? He hadn't shown any agression in the time that she had talked to him, but Ciel had his instincts and rarely diverted from them. She parted her lips to speak, but closed them in a firm line as she watched. Even though she could defend Davin, she knew once Ciel had made up his mind, he would carry his plans out.
It often made her worry.
Some of the things that appeared in Ciel's mind were not one's usual thoughts, and he seemed to have no conscience when doing anything. She tensed reflexively when she heard Ciel speak, and felt the overall tension escalate.
"Ciel..!"
She knew when he looked ahead her call would go unanswered.

Unfortunately and much to his chagrin, Davin had to agree. People lied all the time and he realized having trust would come hard. Not necessarily that he wanted trust from this Ciel. It would have to turn both ways and for now, the garm watched Ciel with a small portion of unease, anxiousness, and anticipation. He emitted a rough canine-like snort to put a sound to his frustrated feelings that wielded inside of him. "You have a stereotype of people," Davin chided. And still, he couldn't find in his heart to blame Ciel; the world turned cruel over the last few decades, into an entire different place that compacted with more dishonest people. He huffed.
He wasn't looking for a fight, he told himself. And he wasn't but at the same time Davin was filled with contradictions. He wanted this but in the same instance he wanted that too. Two colliding forces, but in the end he chose the peaceful one and his facial expression smoothed out, relaxed but it was just a mask. He didn't want to engage in anything, no fights. No, the last time he got his butt kicked and Davin didn't enjoy looking back at that fight where he blundered about.
The silence lingered on for only a few seconds, but for Davin they ticked by slowly and he wondered the reaction of Ciel. An aura swirled about and it made the garm tense up; he felt the inevitable conflict, but tried to resist it as much as possible. "It should be safe for her to stand here," he responded, eyebrows furrowing. The tension grew, thickening into an abyss itself. Davin felt it hard to breathe for a few moments for reasons he only anticipated. What a distrusting and violent individual, but Davin had encountered those similar to Ciel before, nothing he couldn't handle, hopefully. . .
Doubt seized him, but he ignored it, brushed it off insignificantly. Adrenaline pumped through his veins and he felt his senses heighten almost the the point where he felt more like a canine than a human even though he stood in his human image. In spite of all that would go down possibly, he found himself grinning and stifling back hyena modeled laughs. "Invoking your wrath is an easy task, isn't it?" As he ran through the two minute memories of his mind, Davin felt no cause for this. Was he trying to save his own hide? Maybe, not even Davin knew that answer, because just as much as he wanted to run and avoid the fight, he found himself like Ciel and waiting for the first sign. Fighting down was not an option, never an option; and he wondered just how long this charade could continue. He desperately hoped his skin wouldn't break.

The seconds seemed to tick by like hours as he watched to see if Davin would make a move, and to some it would look like he was giving the Garm a chance to yield. For those moments, Ciel's face was unmarred with an expression, simply calculating a strategy as he smply.. waited.
Everything change when Davin asked about his wrath.
If the Garm wanted wrath, he would get it. Not bothering to reply, a snarl rumbled deep in his throat as he quickly crouched and launch himself forward as he released the tension in his muscles. It worked much like a spring, really. As he shot forward, a dark scowl on his face, he coiled his fist back, aiming a first strike at Davin's stomach before flipping away, bangs straying into his eyes. -------------------------------------------------------------- Aalish merely watched, knowing that conflict was now inevitable after Davin's apparent joke. Worry filled her as Ciel launched forward, but she stayed back. She knew how worked up Ciel could get, and she felt that if she interrupted she would be breaking Ciel's trust in her somehow.
She knew she coudn't risk their friendship.
Yet, Davin hadn't done anything wrong except maybe the comment about Ciel being easily provoked. She wished to help him, but reasoned things would be over quicker if she stayed where she was. She knew in the end she couldn't favor either of them, but could only hope it would end well.
Even if it did seem bad.

Usually Davin was pretty sharp and quick on his feet. His reflexes were naturally quick and nimble. The growl greeted his ears with an efficiency that Davin hit the wrong button and though he saw Ciel spring, Davin knew immediately moving would just get him hit anyway. He took the blow as well as anyone could and bent over, sucking in a breath and coughing up what breath had been knocked out of him.
They looked like fools, Davin considered, but backing down like a wimp from a fight was not something he would do. Even for the split second he considered it he grew angry at himself. Normally fights were somehow provoked though, but he really felt this one wasn't. While not all fights were necessary and he knew they were more petty squabbles he growled at the attack. Not one for hand to hand combat, he realized his skin was shifting and two worlds played before him.
If anyone thought he could keep up his skin during a fight, they were sadly mistaken. Everyone had triggers and this was a solid one that came to Davin. He growled, but sounded more canine and now he stood on all fours, a black dog--a garm. The snarl tore through his parted mouth and revealed his dog teeth. Davin fought differently than most. His attacks came in short spurts and for now he circled Ciel, studying his opponent. Davin worked off of stamina but that stamina didn't come from constant attacks. He bit and dodged most of the time, and now as he closed in on Ciel, he made a quick and mad dash to send a nip in the opponent's shoulder before quickly rebounding.
While he was aware of Aalish, he subconsciously forgot her for the time.

Ciel merely watched as his opponent's skin fall almost immediately into their fight, and felt his own form stir restlessly with a familiar longing. His jaw clenched reflexively as he felt pain in his shoulder, and then the trickling of blood as it slowly dripped down his arm. Blue eyes narrowed into frozen shards as he crouched to assess his situation better. After a quick judgement, he sprang again.
"Hn.Foolish..."
He ran faster than one might have expected with that large sword on his back, but he took it in stride as if it wasn't even there. He quickly flung out his hand, sending out a trick of his trade. Ice spikes. He focused solely on ice magic, so he had become rather adept at it , especially making spikes. If they didn't gleam in the sunlight, one wouldn't know they were heading your way. Since he attacked usually at night, it really didn't matter. While Davin would have been dealing with his ice attack in some way, he closed the gap and jumped just before he reached the Garm, whipping the sword off his back as he started to come down. As he let gravity take him down, he made it so he sliced downwards with his sword. If he didn't hit Davin he at least hoped to surprise him or affect his balance.

Davin licked his lips and shook his head from the attack, carefully watching and keeping light on his feet. He sprang around at random intervals just to keep himself more out of harm's way than he already was. Of all the things he expected, he expected an attack that Ciel appeared to be going for. He watched as his opponent rushed toward him and Davin realized how strong this Ciel was. With a sword on his back and sprinting in the manner he did, well it was sadly impressive and made Davin's gut feeling on the outcome of all of this go down. No time to think and he attempted to dodge the barreling body but never expected ice spikes to form out of nowhere.
He suddenly realized he wasn't just dodging the body but also the spikes. Davin ducked down, a few slicing through his fur and slightly cutting the skin. Not expecting a sword to be used, he realized too late to stumble out of the way, and it was more of an ungraceful leap and roll as his torso was sliced from the side down. The wound stung and he winced but quickly got up. Keeping on the ground too long would end in death (and he didn't put that past Ciel).
A vengeful anger roused up in his veins and his eyes alighted on the target. Another snarl, another growl and some huffing. Adrenaline pumped through his body and he felt his heart soar. He bared his teeth and quickly rounded about, attempting false attacks until he found an opening when there really wasn't one. Using his speed and agility, the garm made a tight circle around Ciel, wary of both ice spikes and any sword strikes which was why he kept the circle tight and quick.
Despite all of his limited knowledge on fighting, he wanted to knock this mass down and he wanted Ciel to lose his human image and become one with his true form. He hated the way this came about, a human against a garm and felt as if he looked weaker. Yes, he had an ego. Davin rounded to the back and attempted to shove all of his weight on Ciel, wanting and thirsting to knock this guy down and just in case, he sent a few nips at his calves. Surely that would do a bit of damage. And just as quickly as he attacked he bounded back, or rather scrambled back awkwardly.

Ciel felt a dark grin cross his face as he simply observed the Garm trying to worm his way around the battlefield. It made him begin to question why Davin hadn't simply backed down in the beginning. The only answer he could come up with was pride. It made him think of a famous saying: pride comes before a fall. It was irony to it's fullest degree, and Ciel couldn't help but be amused by it.
He took the brunt of the creature's attack, finding it interesting how such a tiny creature could put so much drive into an attack when there were much larger creatures that not succeeded in knocking him over. He was sent a few feet away, flipping his body gracefully so he landed in a crouch, his gaze never leaving the Garm as he did so. He didn't like to be caught unawares.
"You seem to be waiting for something..."
He flung his sword so it impaled deep into a nearby tree as he spoke, making sure it wouldn't be going anywhere unless he wished it, and finally allowed his skin to fall. Familiarity rushed over him in waves as his true form met the cool air and sun, and resisted purring at the sensation. His three heads held themselves proudly, one tiger and two wolves on the sides, their spikes (which looked like rhino horns made out of ice) gleamed along with their large fangs in the sun, black slitted pupils watching with a twisted curiosity the smaller opponent, just watching. The large torso connected to long muscled limbs, and one could see where claws were resting in his large paws. Ciel had three tails, which were snakes, were two were hissing and whipping about while the other curled around Ciel's back right leg, also content to simply stare his opponent down. The only warning the chimera made of his attack was his tail fiercely recoiling from around his leg to make it's presence known.
Ciel shifted his front paws on the ground, and suddenly large ice spikes started to randomly shoot up around the clearing where they were fighting. A startled cry made a head turn quickly to Aalish to see her attempt to dodge a rather large ice spike, and it caught her right side as she fell. While Ciel wanted to go to her, he didn't trust Davin enough to turn his back. He quickly shot a few ice spikes in Davin's direction so he wouldn't notice Ciel's momentary distraction.

Davin detested the way Ciel made graceful movements out of clumsy ones; he rebounded like a cat and at this, the garm growled below his breath. At least the few feet gave him some breathing room for the moment. The words greeted his ears and Davin perked up a little bit, a rigid stance and ears perfectly forward. Yes, he indicated. Indeed he was waiting for something, waiting for the human to give up the fake facade and turn into what he truly was. Instead of going for another attack, Davin relented and stayed where he was. Not out of energy yet, no, but he studied Ciel carefully, on edge and waiting for some sort of sporadic movement that would slice through this momentary peace.
Underneath the sour look, Davin caught a glimpse of what he was truly going against. The monster was huge, much larger than himself with added features. Snakes, wolves, a tiger, spikes, what more? The garm grunted and bared his teeth; he felt the hair on the back of his neck stand up and all the hair on his body followed suit. His tail was rigid, just as rigid as his muscles, ready to spring at any moment. He felt he would need to very soon. Ciel brought an unpredictable account to the fight. After all, throwing ice spikes wasn't what Davin would ever think of.
Ice spikes. Davin narrowed his eyes and carefully watched the larger form suddenly shoot them out. They were various sizes, mostly leaning toward large. Heavy packed with ice and terribly sharp. He resisted yelping and ducking for cover. Of course he attempted the latter but dodging these things that shot out in no pattern that he was able to pick up proved a challenge. He wound his way around this one and that one. But a cry coming elsewhere, the long forgotten Aalish laced through his ears and made him turn for a split second. That split second gave him an advantage of not getting struck in the face with one, but another barreled toward him, and another.
One easily ripped through the top of his already crouched shoulder, making a nice and deep wound. He clumsily staggered back and another shaved another portion of hair off of his back, but didn't cut as bad. His heart continued racing, pumping needed adrenaline through his veins, but Davin took this respite to quickly tend to his wounds that stung each time his tongue made contact. He winced and took the time to look aside to Aalish. As much as he wanted to see what happened since the scene flew behind his eyes, he understood moving more than needed made the fight riskier on his part. He felt he would need much more speed and much more agility because ice spikes weren't the only things he needed to worry about.
Though he did take a step in the general direction, only having to dodge a couple of more spikes that seemingly flew out of nowhere. He snorted and along with the constant low growl, managed a sharp low bark.
