As Miriel had fallen Jaedon tried to rise and catch her falling friend but she couldn't muster the strength quite yet to rise and catch her. Her fears were quieted swiftly as another young man came from the shadows, caught Miriel, and made a more than generous effort to calm their raging storm. She new the spell well, and had made a point to learn seeing as how her best friend was a phoenix. She was glad for this dark hero seeing as how she knew that the man who had become the victim of their somewhat sour experiment. It had only taken a second to recognize that the man was her own friend Damion Cervantess, a master of the arcane arts, specifically of ice and water. The questions came firing out of the dark-haired man like bullets. Each one stung Jaedon in a different part of her secret heart. The thought of her purposely harming Miriel was horrible and most certainly not true. Jaedon couldn't help but raise her eyebrow in deep question and ecstasy as she realized this dark haired man was rather...strange... She did not answer his narrow question at first, but turned to Damion, met his eyes to see if her was okay and give him time to recognize her friendly face. "It was an experiment. Miriel did it of her own free will." Jaedon showed no emotion as she gave an unwavering glare to the man. She had not forgiven him for those stinging questions that wounded her pride and wit. She knew that she was not telling him the whole truth, she had tempted Miriel. Jaedon crawled towards her friend so that she could survey the damage and how long she would be out waiting for the young mans reply. She was intrigued by him, and he seemed to be a friend of Miriels, which made it even better. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~**~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Damion was glad for the help and was about to thank the kind sir that had helped when he heard him yelling at the girl on the ground. He recognized that lithe form, corkskrew ebony curls, and stony face even before the green eyes that it held were shone upon him... Jaedon was up to her old tricks again. No doubt she had spent months searching and reading about that spell, and she could not have known that he was the target that had been chosen. His friend was not so foolish. She was actually incredibly wise for her few years. The moment that that man had glared at Jaedon he wanted to scream. His friend didn't deserve to be abused over a simple accident, though the girl on the ground was quite the mystery. He stayed silent for now as he slowly rose and came towards the trio of dark haired individuals. He felt rather out of place for a moment, but then decided that it was ok.

The darkness that surrounded Miriel suddenly seemed to be frightened away by the strong arms of some individual. Slowly the world about her started coming back to life again, though the strangest feeling enveloped her. It was as if she had come back from the grave, her body was so weak, yet so empowered. What had just taken place? She found herself looking up toward a man. His face was very familiar, yet she couldn't recollect where she had seen it. He seemed angry. It took her a moment before she realized who it was. "Neron?" Her voice was shaking and faint. Sitting up shakily her eyes gazed around her in wonder, "What happened?" A puzzling mystery was before her until her eyes settled on the book. Then the whole event flashed before her, each flash causing her mind to feel like it was being seared with a hot iron. She doubled forward for a moment, hand grasping her head as a groan came from her lips. "Remind me.." She muttered toward Jaedon, "Never to let me be manipulated by you again." Her hand shook as she pointed toward the book, "And get that blasted book away from me, it's giving me a headache."

Neron almost jumped out of his skin when he heard his name being called by Miriel. Anger controlled him after Jaedon's remark that he barked out, "WHAT!" at her before realizing what he had done. "Miriel?" He keeled down be her and helped her up into a sitting position. " Are you ok?" His tone was now gentle as a spring breeze. "You really are a mystery.. how many times do I have to tell you not to play with fire." A teasing smile made his face glow as he brushed a hair out of her eyes. Then his gaze hardened as he glared at Jaedon. "As for you, I don't think manipulating someone into something being their own, "free will" as you call it. If that's free will then I'd rather have no mind at all. Spells are not something to be played with." He picked up the book and flipped through quietly gazing over a few. His voice lowered, "Especially not these." Then his voice rose with a sharp edge to it. "Who do you think you are? You could have died from this! SHE could have died!" He pointed to Miriel. "Do NOT play with lives like some sort of game! What type of person are you?!"

This was the final straw. Damion couldn't stand it any longer. Her knew that Jaedon had learned the dangers of this spell and if it was dangerous she would never have asked her friend to do it. He advanced towards the blaggard that was yelling at his friend. "Hey, don't be yelling at her. I have known this girl for a long time and have always known her to be careful with spells. She would never put a friend in danger. Through every problem that I have ever had, Jaedon has always been the most faithful friend." he didn't yell at him but was completely firm. Standing at his full height, ready to cast a spell of silence on the fool-hardy black-haired disaster. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Jaedon had not desired for a heated argument, and decided that she would try to stop it quickly. She leapt from where she was sitting and put an arm out o stop Damions advance. She pushed everything from her mind as she tried to muster the strength to play peace keeper between Damion and this Neron guy. He was already mad at her, she didn't need him mad at Damion too. "Damion please! That is quite enough." She said in a stressed voice. She knew that this was her fault, and she was glad that Miriel was okay, along with Damion. She turned to Neron, stepped away from Damion and spoke with deep earnest and stressed vocal chords. "You are right. Lives are nothing to be played with. I knew that Miriel was not in danger because she is phoenix. Had she been a dragon then I would never have presumed to ask her to try the spell. If you wish to question my knowledge and its source, then I will supply you with them." Then she looked to Miriel with slightly playful eyes, and as she did her adrenaline left, and she could no longer make herself be strong and play apologetic peace-keeper, and so she fell. The grasp on her surroundings started fading away, flickering in and out. She never lost it completely, but she was sure that she would if she continued to push herself to be strong. As she fell she said ore to herself than anyone, "The spell would do more damage to me than to her..." her speech was so slurred that it could hardly be understood.

The word glare is not strong enough to put behind the look that Neron gave to Damion. IT was so full of hatred of someone butting into a conversation that they had no business. His eyes changed from a humans to a reptilian's, slitted and cold. But before he could answer the other girl had leaped up, playing peacemaker. He listened to her, and his eyes turned back to their usual form. At least she was making a plea that seemed heart-felt. She then started to teeter and fall. Neron tried to grab her, but he tripped over a stone that was on the ground. His form hit the ground with a heavy thud. As soon as he was down he was back up again, seething. "Curse that rock." He sent it off into the darkness with a harsh kick. "Curse this place." His voice had become almost a hiss as his eyes turned snake-like once more. "Curse this blasted deformed, useless body." Fists clenched into tight balls his eyes flashed with fury. He turned on Jaedon, her plea forgotten, "How did you know she was a pheonix? Who are you? I swear if you involve Miriel with any more of your scheming...." He bit his tongue and stayed quiet, his anger was to much for words. So much for a relaxing night.

Miriel didn't like where things were going. She knew Neron's anger all to well. Reaching out she grasped his balled fists gently in between her slender hands. "She's one of my closest friends Neron. Stop being so hot headed." A smirk played on her lips, "After all haven't I told you to start controlling that fiery temper of yours?" It was a little joke between them, both had a love for fire and both had an understanding between them that is hard to explain. Miriel was sometimes the cooling balm for his anger and other times she merely egged him on. When these two fought, it wasn't pretty. Usually both lost their skin and engaged into a full fledged battle. She felt his hand relax slightly and thus she removed her hand. Standing up she felt energy start reviving itself. "Jaedon? Are you alright?!"

Jaedon faded in and out. She heard Neron angrily raving at her and she wilted under the cursed words that he spoke. She now felt terrible about trying the spell and she wished that she had never asked Miriel for help. Why did her emotions and memories have to get in the way. All she wanted was confirmation, but confirmation had turned to confrontation. She couldn't help but think about all the trouble she had caused over the same topic that now caused trouble. She shut her eyes and started to let the darkness take over as hopelessness and despair came like wind to her already burdened heart. It was only the soft sound of Miriel calming her friend, maybe even defending Jaedon for her thoughtless crime. "Just like her..." Jaedon thought in the back corners of her mind. She heard Miriel calling to her, but she could not answer them, she simply blinked and forced a small smile onto her face as she tried to convey that she was alright. Her bright green eyes turned to dull and lifeless emerald pools that displayed her misery and heartache. Her face became ashen and she tried to stop the feeling of falling into nothingness. She could not stop it however, and then it came, like a burst of quiet freedom as her human skin fell away. Her soft white skin gave way to rich ebony fur that felt of the finest silk. The graceful and sleek figure of a bicorne took the place of her tall human one. Her ears laid back in a sign of complete exhaustion and defeat. She had given up trying to stop the transformation. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Damion was at a loss for words. The misconstrued attempt to stop Jaedon from falling and the silence of his male opponent made him want to bite back with all of his might, but he knew that would only bring more pain to his friend. Damion said nothing until he saw that Jaedon was changing into her true form, then he sighed and spoke in an agitated and dull voice, "Well, congrats genius, you've done it. She has now lost her skin. She is completely exhausted." He turned away as he tried to think of a way to help his friend regain her skin, or sneak back to her room so that she could rest and no one would see her strange form. The sarcasm that had gone along with his statement was alot like that of his friends usual sarcasm. Had she been awake she would have congratulated him on his witty remark. Damion decided that he liked this girl Miriel. She was kind and fair to Jaedon, and one of Jaedons good friends, this was enough for him. Jaedon had proved herself many times before, and now he would forever trust her.

"Oh Jaedon..." Miriel's voice was soft as she knelt carefully by her friends true form. She ran her fingers through the plush fur. Though the spell had drained a lot from her Miriel didn't have nearly as much taken from her as Jaedon. "You, fool, you silly fool.. All this experimenting is going to be the death of you. I should have said no to you, then none of this would have happened." She smiled slightly and turned to Neron. Her gaze narrowed. "This is not your best of moments." Her voice shook slightly with anger though she forced herself to remain calm. This was not the time to get angry, she would loose her skin, and then Neron would loose his.
She began to pace around, her feet making a rhythmic pattern on the ground. Tossing her head she made her long tresses move like liquid in the night. What should they do? If they brought her to the dorms there would be a huge hubbub, they couldn't leave here here for some early riser to find...What should they do?"What a mess." She sighed as her pacing came to a stop. Stooping down she scooped up the spell book and held it to her chest before walking back over to Jaedon. Turning her attention to Damion she sighed, "What should we do now?"

Neron had calmed a bit with Miriel's touch but as soon as Damion made his little remark it leaped back up. Though the words stung more that his anger blazed. Neron needed to punch something and this other guy seemed to fit the bill. But just as these thoughts were forming in his head he gazed at Miriel then at Jaedon. Getting angry right now would not be the right thing to do. Miriel didn't need it and this Jaedon didn't need it. But that didn't quench the fire that burned within. So he stood there, seething as he gazed away at the lake. Why did everything else seem so calm when everything within him seemed alight with fury?

It seemed to Damion that everything had broken loose until he thought of something else... He knew Jaedon, and he knew that she had a double minded way of doing things. She could focus on one thing for a long time, but eventually she had to think about something else. Some thing that almost no one knew about her was that she had a love for cooking more than anything. She loved her books and she loved to cook. If Damion could figure out the last thing that was on her mind before they had cast the spell then he might have a way to get them out of this situation. "Hey, Miriel right? You had a link to Jaedon while she was feeding you power, I read that had to be done. If that is true then you could have heard some of her thoughts, what was she thinking about right before you cast the spell?" He looked at Jaedons dark form as she laid in rest. She could have answered the question, but to convey it would be impossible for her. Even if she had had strength, she had not yet learned to speak in her true form other than growling, roaring, and purring. "Stupid, oversized, lovable, fuzzy, furball." He muttered as he walked towards her.

Miriel turned to Damion as her brows knit together. "I don't know.. I can't remember the whole spell is a haze to me after the halfway point.." Covering her eyes with her hand she rocked back and forth on her feet trying to remember. Everything was so blurring, so disoriented. It was like trying to sort out a needle in a haystack. There was so much straw and only one needle needed.
Then all of a sudden it was as if Miriel had been shocked with electricity, the memory had revealed itself, the needle had been found. "Something... of a squirrel.. I don't know what but all I remember is her babbling about a squirrel.." Her eyes lifted to Damion. " I'm sorry but that's all I can remember..." Concern and confusion showed on her face. "But what does that matter?"

Miriels answer made him smile. "It's okay. That is pretty good. I should have figured it would be something completely strane, she was probably imagining a squirrels life and what it would be like in it... What a clueless girl, eh?" he laughed as the thought passed through his head. Then the smile that caressed his face disappeared for a moment and he looked as though deep in thought. He looked at Jaedon then at the sky then back to Jaedon. With that he burst out laughing , he was laughing so hard he bent over, then sat down because he didn't want to fall and look foolish. The land around the lake was silent but for his uproarus laughter. "SHE'S HUNGRY!!!!!" he burst out with laughter still flowing from every part in his body. He couldn't stop.

Neron listened quietly as the two talked about squirrels. He didn't find the connection between squirrels and being hungry so amusing. Even though squirrels were tasty morsels, they were barely even a mouthful. "What does being hungry have to do with this situation at any point?" He looked at Jaedon and then back at Damion. Plus the sudden uproar had disturbed his thoughts. "Way to bring attention to this spot. It's the middle of the night and you have to fill the air with your laughter." Neron huffed before turning back to the lake.

"Well, as a matter of fact, I happen to know that Jaedon is stronger in mind than anything else, all she needs is something to power her brain and once that happens she can recreate her skin so long as she has quiet and can think. Miriel could attest to this fact I am certain, seeing as how you seem to have been friends for a while." He looked at Miriel with a kind gaze, then turned to look at Nerons back. "And even though a squirrel is nothing to a dragon, it is a full sized meal to a skinny little Bicorne like Jaedon, if you haven't noticed, she is nothing but skin and bones. A squirrel would mean a full stomach and a bit of rejuvination, so get off of your high horse mister, because this is your fault too. Jaedon is sensitive when it comes to her friends and you bashed her pretty hard." Damion was turning foul. This Nerons presence did not set well with him. Before he gave them a moment to think about anything or do anything he decided that he should leave before things made him emotional. "I will go get her something to eat."

Neron glared at Damion. " How are you going to kill them? By talking them to death?" ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- (ooc - didn't feel like switching accounts) Miriel had been hugging the book tighter and tighter to her as she glanced around her. IT was night, and it was dark, being near water, tired, drained, and worried was not something she needed right now. " You are with friends, your fine, the darkness is not going to swallow you.. be calm...be calm." THe words echoed in her mind as she gazed steadily at the ground. Ever since she had come to this new form she realized that there was a such thing as darkness, for the first 10 or more years of her life she had been a creature of fire, bringing light to every place she went. Ever since she had taken human she she had grown scared of the dark. In fact she had almost become like a child in some ways. Usually she had a nightlight on in her dorm, spreading a warm glow about her room. But here, all she had were the stars that dotted the sky, taunting her. Dropping the book at the sound of getting food she said in a taunt tone, " Why don't you both go get something I'll start a fire.."
