Year: 1930's Location: Unknown Name: Landon Invictus
The sun rose on the high peak of a mountain, the clouds surrounding its peak faded softly into the skies as the warmth of the sun fell down upon the earth to give it life. Suddenly, the skies are filled with flying roaring creatures, each circling each other, sending slight kicks and bites toward each one another. One by one, the creatures dropped back into the mountains hollow, disappearing behind the wall of solid stone to hide once again in the dark shadows as to not be found by the humans. Dragons... Each and every creature that had filled the sky was a dragon of some type, earth, fire, water, air, ice, mud, sand, any type you could think of had been in that sky. The only ones who had not joined in the basking of the morning sun were the Elders, who did not leave their humble abode for any reason besides war and treaties. On this day, the day of the solstice, an egg was to be hatched, a small sky blue egg, with light brown spots covering part of its shell. The mother of the egg layed by the frail thing, covering part of it with her own body as to keep it warm and the hatch-ling inside comfy. The father of the egg sat at the entrance, guarding the doorway with his own life, his other son, not much older than the hatch-ling was standing with him. Every dragon in the Den knew that the Son and Father were protecting the newborn, some knew the reason, others had no clue why they were so protective among their own kind. This family had seen its fair share of war among dragons, and knew that every dragon hatch-ling born on the solstice of the moon was to be tried as an Elder. Some other families had had sons on this day and did not need the competition, they would find a way to either kill the hatch-ling, or the whole family themselves. But no one dared try the Father and Brother to this new born, the Father had once been a great warrior during the last of the wars. He had fought to keep human kind safe from the kin that did not believe that humans should be alive on this planet, he had lost man things in that war, his oldest son included. No family member left the den of the newborn, no visitors came to the entrance to pay homage to the newly born as most did. The family was left alone, that night, as the moon filled the night sky and the stars shone their brightest over the mountain tops, a small crack appeared on the egg shell. The mother roared in excitement at her newborn forcing its way from its shell, she nudged the egg as the Father and Brother came to watch their new family member enter the world. The shell cracked again, and again, until finally a small screech could be heard. A small nose appeared out of the first hole of the shell, with one final shove of its head, the baby dragon broke from its shell and tipped it over. He fell to the earth, screeching in delight as he stood on his own four legs. The mother and father nudged each other, then turning their large heads to the baby dragon, they nudged him ever so gently. The baby dragon screeched and ran back to its shell, huddling inside. Smiles curled up on both the mother and fathers mouths, the older brother started to laugh the raspy laugh of a dragon as he watching his younger brother. The new born had finally arrived, and the family was very happy at his arrival, but other families were not. They had heard the mother roar and knew that another prospect for the Elder's had been born, and his name was Landon Invictus.

Year: 1960's Location: Unknown Name: Landon Invictus "Catch me If you can Brother!" Screeched Landon's brother Leo as he jumped from the den and flew out to the middle of the mountains valley, Landon being slightly smaller than his brother Leo could catch him quite easily. But Leo being bigger had an advantage in a wrestling match, Landon hopped out of the den with the words of his mother behind him "Be Careful you two!" Landon looked back and smiled, turning his head he quickly caught up behind Leo. He didnt need to catch him, he would wait until his brother landed, then stay in his blind spot and attack him from there. He followed close behind, making sure that Leo didnt notice him. Leo flew low, scraping the valleys grass with his feet. With a swift move, he slid his claws down and came to a stop in the center of the field, Leo turned quickly to see if his brother was going to fall for his trick. He didn't see Landon behind him, he looked around quizzically. Then from his blind side Landon struck, pinning Leo's wings around him with his hind legs. Landon stepped down of the center of Leo's wings now wrapped around his body and kneeled his head down to look at his older brother, he spoke with a smug comment "Caught you.." Landon smiled as his brother's eyes got wide then his face contorted as he struggled to fling his brother from him. Landon was small and knew he wouldn't hold against his brother, he knew he'd have to make a break for it before Leo got a hold of him and made him pay for catching him. Leo roared and pulled one of his wings free, Landon shot off like a rocket to get away. He knew his brother wouldn't catch him, he looked behind him and there Leo was struggling to keep up. Landon smiled inwardly then took a nose dive to the lake, his brother was a fire dragon, he was a water dragon. He hit the water and swam to the bottom, his brother didn't like the water to much and never really came after him in it. He looked up and seen no figure chase him in, he treaded the water swiftly and hit the surface. His brother sat on a rock on the side of the lake watching him, he yelled to him from the distance "Don't be a coward you mangy grog! Come out of that water and fight me like a real dragon!" He was upset, Landon could tell. There was no way he was coming out of the water, instead he did a little element bending and sent a ball of water at his brother. Leo didn't see it as the ball hit him directly in the face, he roared loudly and turned red hot. The water steamed from him as he took a deep breath and shot a fireball at Landon's exposed head, a small wall of water stopped the flame in its track. Landon sat in the water smiling at his older brother, then he started to laugh and swim around. Leo did not find the situation funny, he started to shoot fire at the water in anger getting more frustrated that his brother was giving him the once over. Just then they heard their father voice booming into the valley "Come on boys, get home." He didn't have to speak loudly, they could hear him from a couple miles off if they needed. They both shot home like bullets, of course Landon was the first to slide into the cave and roll into the wall. His brother soon followed, sending a small plume of fire in his direction. Landon shied away from it then went to his father with Leo, he looked at them both, their mother sat staring out into the distance. He looked at Landon and spoke quietly "Landon... You are young, but you are wise among others your age. Your skilled in battle and have a knowledge of your element others have not learned, your a smart boy son, which is why when you are old enough we are going to send you to a school to hone your abilities. Something no one in this family has ever done..." A look of pride filled his face as he looked at his youngest son, Leo looked at Landon and patted him on the shoulder smiling at him. Leo knew his brother was special, he knew it the day he was born, he always knew his brother would become something better than the rest. Leo nodded at his younger brother then went to his spot in the cave to lay down, he knew this wasn't his conversation. Landon looked at his father and asked "What will I do father?" His voice full of questioning and wonder, his father chuckled and said "In good time my boy, all in good time." He spoke with a smile, Landon looked at him quizzically before he was sent to bed for the evening. He dreamed the dreams of the Elders that night, powerful in all forces of nature, strong above any other dragon, wise beyond the years of even the oldest tree, he fell asleep dreaming the dreams that any young dragon should.
