Kayrynn padded through the forest on her huge paws. The light shining down from the moon filtered through the trees canopy and hit her pelt giving the illusion that her soft fur was blue and not black. She let out a soft sigh as she neared the clearing. She had not the slightest idea what to expect when she passed through these bushes to the clearing. Although she wished it could be she knew that this would be nothing like her pack back home.
The moon knows how she missed them. She looked up at the dark sky past the above canapy. Her light sky-blue eyes shone in the light of the moon. Her feet shuffled restlessly in knowing. Knowing that her father and brothers were looking at the same moon. Her uncle, bless his soul, was amoung the stars now. He was watching her. Was he proud of her decision to leave? He had to understand at the least...
He might have even known she was coming. He was a wise one. Old in his years. Leader of many. Respected by all. Kayrynn was his favorite. She learned all he had to teach and tried to follow in his footsteps.
With a sigh Kayrynn focused on the reason she came here in the first place. Takeing a few paces forward she stepped to the edge of the clearing. She observed her surroundings before submerging herself into a unknown situation.
Six faces. One black wolf was in the middle of a circle faceing another silent soul. A fight for leadership perhaps? But what is the circle for? Sumo wrestling? Kayrynn almost laughed. What a sight that would be. Her eyes flickered to the rest of them until her gaze landed on an empty spot in the clearing. She jumped and easily glided over the Kluddes head to the designated spot.
Turning around to turn her back to the woods as she was taught by her Uncle she opened her jawls "Have we exchanged formalities already or are we just leaping at eachothers throats?" Her cool voice filled the clearing. It was stern yet passive. A voice to be heard, not ignored.
Sitting back on her haunches she curled her long tail around her. She sat tall and proud. A sight to see, a force to be reckoned with. " I thought we prided ourselves in our civility from the wolves come to find out here we are dragging ourselves back to their thoughtless brutality." She wondered how many of these Kluddes had their fur raised at this comment. She didn't really mind. She had her point and she voiced it they are allowed to do the same.
"At any rate. I am Kayrynn. Kayrynn Little."

Naki was interested to see how the fight for leadership would turn out, even though there were only two competitors. She had a feeling it wouldn't end here, and even once a leader was decided, there would be tension. Right when it seemed it was going to start, a voice broke her out of her thoughts, and an instant annoyance ran through her mind. At least the first one who was late had been respectful enough to keep silent ! This female must have been thinknig quite highly of herself to simply speak when it was not her place. This was not the time for cynical comments and trivial matters, this was time for combat. The urge to rip the females throat out arose in her, simply just to shut her up. It would be interesting to see how this Karyrynn acted after this meeting. Perhaps the pride and strength was just for show ?
One would think she was hostile to other females, but she had not been irritated by the other female that was sitting a ways from her, but this new one, she was too prideful. She only hoped she could be the one to take her down a notch, but from the looks of the other Kludde around her, she doubted it. Now that was through her brain went back to Reynard's idea. Anything goes ? Not the greatest idea in her opinion. At least if it was just teeth and claws, they would be fighting with instinct and things they all possessed. What if the on had a secret weapon they pulled out for special occasions. It would put the other at extreme disadvantage, not something someone wanted in a fight for alpha.
"If I were you, Reynard, I would have stuck with teeth and claws...." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jesse had been watching, crimson eyes further alight with the thought of carnage on his mind, when a sound buzzed his eardrums breaking through his daydream. If he could have scowled, he would have. He watched as the self-proclaimed princess of the alliance sauntered over to her place, and he merely narrowed his gaze at her. Really now ? Making such comments when there were those much stronger than her ? It had been so long since he had met a suicidal Kludde, and there had only been one before. Fangs were revealed in that foreboding grin as he thought of how lovely the tearing of his flesh had been. His first thoughts about the newcomer ? She wouldn't last long with him around. A low snarl built up in his chest when she brought up 'thoughtless brutality'. What was with females and their need to show everyone their strength and how brilliant they were?
"You, female, if you had actually been listening to anything other than your own voice, you would have known we were discussing 'rules' for this so-called 'thoughtless brutality"
He may have had a sharp tongue, but he had much sharper teeth.

Reynard was annoyed at the female's comments but managed to keep his face under control pretending to look interested in what she said. He waited to let the others speak first letting them release their anger at the women before he too spoke, "Hello Kayrynn. The reason why I believe that this is the correct way to choose our leader is because this school is a giant battle ground. The strong duke it out while the rest cower in their hideaway's. If this pack is to succeed our leader must have the will to lead and the power to protect the pack. That is the important thing. That the leader can protect the pack." Reynard didn't believe half of what he had said. He could care less about protecting the pack but he wanted to be seen as someone who wouldn't simply yell at someone when they disagreed with him. That way he would have the support of more Kludde when this match was finished.
"If you have a better idea of how to choose a leader than please tell us. If not please either enter the circle and join us in this fight for leadership or step aside and let us battle it out." Reynard watched the Kayrynn as he said this. If she entered the fight it would make things a lot harder for him since his power would be most effective if the recipient didn't know what was happening. Still she might be of use if he could get her and Le Cyll to battle it out and then only entering once they were both to tired to fight back.

Le Cyll remained quiet at the newcomer's presence. The rest of the Klude had disciplined her enough - he need not add his share to this disgrace. Instead, he only regarded her with cool, lifeless gray eyes and a dismissive flick of his tail.
"We will fight as is decided. Please Reynard, if you would." Le Cyll curled his tail up over his paws, sitting down now in the ring without much energy or interest in the squabbling a little in front of him.
He need not concern himself. These creatures were Kludde. They could think and act for themselves without his instruction. It was only in the matter of combined strength and trust that he would require their attention. In all other matters, they were their own wolves. They would do well enough without him. They had each up until now, hadn't they?
Besides, moonlight was burning. He required a fight. Now. Bloodthirst did not enter into this equation, but more the need to determine a leader. He required one, regardless of whether it was Reynard or not. He would have order, and he would have a pack.
He would eventually rule, whether or not he won this leadership, but for now, a semblance of order was needed. Le Cyll waited in the ring, patiently flicking his ears around the clearing and lsitening to the sounds of the forest.
The birds were silent. Perhaps because of so many predators in view? It was quite an occasion - this gathering of the apex predators. His first decree as leader would obviously be to claim this beautiful wood for himself, centaurs be damned. A pack needed space and hunting - not dorm rooms and cafeteria food.

Not thoughtless brutes? Ha! How can they not be? Can't they see? Just because they get the strongest leader doesn't exactly mean that they get the smartest. Common instinct takes over when fighting most of the time. Movements that have to be thought out and planned though... Who will be greater in that? Who would put the pack first and their own needs second? She had seen too many brutal and stupid pack leaders win their position this way. This tells you of fighting skills. Not of character and leadership tatics. But she would keep her mouth shut. This is what they wished.
Kay just stared at them all in turn as they spoke. It was clear she was not very well-liked at this moment. But there was one thing she just had to adress...
" And If you had been listening, male, you would know that my name is not female. But obviously you weren't listening to anything other than the fact that I insulted the way you are carrieing out picking leadership postion. Kay said to the first male to adress her. She had no pateince for those whom did not referr to her by her name. It urked her to no end.
To the second male she said in a much nicer tone, I do not wish to fight over leader. The simple fact though, is that even if the strongest or fastest wins, they may not be willing to stand and protect the pack like intended... This is merely a test of strength, will, and at some extent, intellegence. Do not mistake this for a test of character of some sort. As she finished she looked to the other wolf for a few respectable seconds and dipped her head down in a respectful sort of bow to both males near the ring.
As I said before, I do not wish to fight for leadership. Please. Continue.

Naki watched uneasily as the male beside her bristled with what could only be said as pure rage, and wondered what exactly was about to unfold. Even though she would greatly appreciate if that Kayrynn girl learned her place, now was not the time or the place. She then turned her attention to Reynard and Le Cyll, wishing the battle could start already.
It had been a while since she'd witnessed a good fight, and the tension in the clearing was becoming thicker by the minute. She hated tension. She rolled her eyes as Kayrynn kept talking, and sighed in relief as she finally stopped with some pathetic disgrace for a bow. If she'd tried to make that crap effort into a bow when she was younger, she would have been beaten. This just showed how barbaric the other girl really was. There was no doubt that the girl would be taught a proper lesson soon enough, whether it was by hand or not. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Clueless Twit.
That was the first thought that entered Jesse's head as she attempted to insult him with her pitiful excuse for a vocabulary. A smug smirk crossed his maw, daring her to approach him. Of course she wouldn't, not if she wanted to live that is. It was certain now, this was war. Another type of war, but war none the less. As soon as he caught the foolish female in a time of weakness, he'd strike.
As he listened to her babble on and on about what she thought was good and all, he barely noticed when she stopped. He had focused his crimson gaze upon the moon, resisting the urge for him to simply leave. He needed to watch this fight. It wouldn't matter who won to him, but whoever proved themself to him more. That is who he would pledge his loyalty to.

The huge black wolf - much the same appearance as the other black wolves here, but more blue in sheen; more slight of body and lengthy of leg than most - got up from his quiet peace, tail flicking playfully behind him, ears pushed forward in mild interest, tongue lolling like that of a common canine. This wolf - this creature of the tundra where such a slender form would do him no good and yet survived where others did not - this thing of black where only white could cloak his pelt and give him the ability to hunt successfully in his natural habitat, and yet was probably the most well fed of all the wolves here - this strange object of complete dissonance and contradiction tipped his head, eyes wide as if he were a pup gawking at such grown wolves fighting, and slunk over to the rest of his species.
"Quiet you" he said, simply, without the slightest hint that he even noticed her. Perhaps he only said it to silence the noise, not talk to the individual? He needed no speech, after all, to talk to such a thing that could not understand the easy use of language.
He need not speak to her, and he need not have her listen. She must only obey him - not out of any sense of self power over her, but for the sake of the greater.
A leader must be chosen. She interfered with the pack. She was a threat, and must be treated as such to the whole.
"Be silent, and speak not where it is not your place."
He need not explain himself. She did not want to compete, so why have an opinion? What was her voice worth if she were not to back it up with action? Just noise that scared off prey and annoyed her brethren. Her breath was useless here. All that was needed for leadership was the ability to survive, and to survive with the pack and for the pack. What other purpose could there be than to exist and to make it possible for others to exist?
If they wanted moral law and order, he would not give it to them. If he was leader, they would impose whatever law they wanted - but they were not do die, not to become injured and weak. That was his responsibility, and he would not allow it. Other than that, what kind of tea parties that these wolves had was not his problem.
"Reynard," Le Cyll's head tipped towards the other wolf keenly, ears flicking backward, towards the ring. "We shall have a leader to rule us soon."
And with that, the fight began. Le Cyll and Reynard were both in the circle, and both of them were willing to risk what they thought most precious to gain control of this pack of wolves.
...it was a bit ironic, no?
Le Cyll began, seeing as if he did not this little spat would flare up again. Making a quick, simple gesture of a first move, Le Cyll dove inward, taking a slash at Reynard's shoulder blade.
This was not a threatening wound. Exactly the opposite. It would barely cause a scratch if it hit. However, all in good time he would be more forthcoming with his attack. For now, there was a plan to be followed.
Le Cyll dipped in Reynard's range of motion, swiping at him several more times in easily defended and easily mended areas. He was not hasty, nor was he slow. There was a careful yet unpredictable rhythm to his series of blows, and it steadily increased in difficulty to dodge them as time went on.
Le Cyll made an unexpected slash then, teeth flashing to rip at Reynard's throat. Just as quickly as the thought for this attack came, so the attack was over. Less than a second, it took.
Le Cyll moved away again, swiftly.

Reynard stood back and watched as Le Cyll ruined any chances he had of gaining the girls respect. Now the girl would look to Reynard as the leader no matter the outcome of the fight. He nodded at Le Cyll indicating that he could have the first move in this battle. Initially Reynard had planned to take Le Cyll out by blasting him out of the circle with his beams. However he had realized that if he did that he wouldn't earn the respect and loyalty of the other Kludde. Which was the important thing. He needed to make sure that they wouldn't turn on him the second his back was turned.
Reynard easily dodged the first blow from Cyll. It had simply been a testing move that wouldn't have even hurt him if it had struck. However as they continued circling each other and Le Cyll continued testing his defences the attacks became steadily harder to avoid. However Reynard could still avoid them relatively easily. He was waiting for Cyll to do a full out attack and then he would launch his counterattack.
The moment came when Le Cyll bared his fangs and tried to rip open Reynard's throat. Reynard narrowly avoided the blow and instantly launched his counterattack. He leapt forward claws extended with his wings sweeping in from the sides in an attempted to cut Le Cyll.

Being pulled into an ad-libbed corner of sorts, the only thing Le Cyll could do was duck, pulling his wings close to his back and using them as a shield as he slid, gravel scraping beneath his paws as he rolled under and out of Reynard's way. He pivoted immediately after clearing the raking claws, using his own wings as leverage to make a quick ninety degree turn and leap on top of Reynard - claws of his own reaching wide to hit the sides of the rival wolf's neck and slide cleanly down the length of his body.
As you can imagine, this was very difficult to do. Le Cyll stood shakily on his hind legs, tail flicking this way and that and wings battering away as he attempted to perfectly land.
Careful, careful... Don't take a risk!
At the last second, and without any kind of thought on his part, he shifted away from this maneuver, instead raking his claws at Reynard as he set his front paws on the ground.
Yes... Best not to tack chances. Not this early. There would be time for all manner of interesting tricks later.
Good. Now get away.
He did, unquestioningly. Making a smooth sprint and turn to once again face Reynard, tongue lolling not in exertion but in a kind of quizzical concern.
Why was he listening to this?
Trust me.
Le Cyll broke into a smooth pace, circling his opponent, slowly getting closer but making no attempt to attack. He would try something different - something less of his usual style.
No! Stay back! What are you doing?
Very slowly now, almost sleepily. Le Cyll circled his way closer, wings twitching in agitation.
It was always two battles, wasn't it? One was never enough...

Reynard sensed what Le Cyll was going to do as he was bearing down on him. Reynard was just bringing up his wings to block it when at the last second Le Cyll changed his attack attempting to rake his claws down Reynard's front. Angling his wings slightly Reynard managed to block the blow with them. It hurt but Reynard could deal with the pain while a injury would have been disastrous.
Reynard went back to circling Le Cyll noticing that Le Cyll was slowly getting closer. He didn't want the other Kludde to get to close preferring to keep him at a slight difference where Reynard's razor sharp wings would be able to take care of him.
Once Reynard judged the distance between the two combatants was perfect he made another lunch forward once more attempting to cleave Le Cyll in half with his wings while attempting to bite any part of Le Cyll's body that got close to him.

The huge wolf reared at the last second, sailing high - wings fluttering so as to raise the packed dirt around him - until he lifted gently out of harm's way and backwards, touching down again still without a hint of animosity towards his foe.
Ah, so that made sense didn't it? The wings...
Sharp like a falcon's claws. The mutant! But he hides more than simply that! Draw him out... Yes... I see your plan.
Le Cyll's front paws reached the ground delicately, and his head lingered low doting on them. The pads of his feet had been scraped - not to make them bleed - but so that they stung now, the fresh skin contacting with the earth beneath him.
Fool... I told you it was not safe! It hurts...
Le Cyll blinked and looked up, as if he did not feel this burning, stinging bruise that tore at his attention. His feet do not falter, nor lift as they so wanted.
He detached himself from the interesting fount of pain and walked carefully over the soft bed of fallen leaves beneath him, staying away from the bare soil and twigs.
Wings twitching again in anticipation, Le Cyll once again circled. As if robotically, he practiced this motion.
Yes... Look for it. What is he hiding still?
Monochromatic eyes trained on his target intently but strangely uninterestedly, he moved in one again, without making any steady advances.

Reynard cursed as Le Cyll evaded most of his attack. Reynard had barely scratched the other Kludde's paw. He needed to be more careful and plan out his next attack better. He decided to stop holding out and finish the opposing Kludde in one move, and Reynard knew just how he would do it.
Reynard returned to circling Le Cyll. Now came the tricky part. He needed to time his attacks perfectly if he wanted to get a serious wound on the man. He leaped once more at the man extending his wings once more but this time also shooting a beam of moonlight into Le Cyll's face. The beams might give a small burn but they were mainly to blind the man while Reynard attacked the man wing his wings from the side and his claws and powerful jaw from the front. Reynard even angled one wing towards the Kluddes top so that the Kludde wouldn't escape into the air again. It would lessen the force slightly but it was worth it. Ideally though the Kludde's blindness would make this preparation unnecessary. Most people when blinded simply tried to back away, however if Le Cyll backed up to far he would leave the circle and forfeit the match.

When Reynard made his move, the wolf was ready. Wings twitching in agitation; he dodged to the side - not far enough. Reynard blocked him in, clapping his wings over any escape. Confused, but unwilling to surrender so easily, the wolf flicked out the thick black feathers of his wings, immediately blanketing his body.
And it was a good thing too... Something singed them, and there was a blinding light casting itself over the very tips of each feather. It was not enough to really do any damage, Le Cyll noticed, but it was immensely bright. Squinting his eyes past the still-bright glare, the wolf backed up slowly. One step at a time... then ducked low and went for the throat again, wings wrapped around him while he reached out with his foreclaws and raked at Reynard with all his might.
This was a simple fight-out. Reynard would be forced to stop this strange power of his and face Le Cyll's counterstrike, or risk serious injury. At least, this was the theory.

Reynard realized that his timing was off a split second before the attack began. His wings had arrived before his light had hit Le Cyll's eyes. It had messed up the way the attack worked so Reynard hadn't even managed to land a hit on the opposing Kludde. Now Le Cyll was lunging for him attempting to rip his throat out.
Reynard pushed backwards with his wings leaping back to avoid Le Cyll's attack. Unfortunately while he managed to escape the worst of the claws he still got several small scratches across his chest.
Reynard instantly leapt into a counter-counter-attack. Swinging his wings together horizontally he attempted to chop Le Cyll between them cutting him open with their sharp feathers. Simultaneously he blasted Le Cyll with a much stronger beam. This one would cause serious burns and hopefully distract him enough to keep him from dodging back and away from the wings. Then once the attack was completed and Reynard had scored his hits against Le Cyll he would leap backwards to avoid any possible counters the opposing Kludde might make.

As the wolf always did, after his avoidance of this attack had been carried out and his counterstrike delivered, he dipped back, away from his opponent. This had turned out helpful most of the time, so it did now as the sharp, bladed wings snapped closed on empty air, giving him just a soft swipe of wind to contend with.
The beam though, this was more long lasting and long reaching. The wolf 's wings fluttered as he rose to his hind paws, skating backward away from the light that he saw burned the leaves beneath it. He would have continued this, but he remembered the boundaries. With a quick swipe of his wings, he shifted direction, landing his feet back on the ground and darting off, once again free to dodge these deadly rays, just the tips of his feathers singed as if from white hot heat.
Le Cyll ignored this sting, closing the gap between them with a lunge and another snap and rake. These were less than precise, simple warning attacks used to distract his opponent as he wrapped his wings up and around, attempting to seal Reynard in so he could not doge the more serious blows that the wolf delivered next.
