Chimera Academy Guidelines
Note: You only have to know the bold words! The smaller text underneath is just to explain the rule more.
- no spamming
spamming is rude and most people will end up not liking you if you do it. if you would like to affiliate or advertise, we have boards for that - read for our character limits!
basically, if you have a question about pretty much anything like, oh, I don't know: shapeshifting, half breeds, hybrids, skins/triggers, races, species, powers, exceptions to rules, special characters, special chimera morphs, chimera-specific shifting, etc... then buddy, go look it up. We actually have info on all of that! and some of it is in this post! Do not ask us any questions until you've actually read up on this stuff, okay? - no character limit
I, personally, love having many characters, so there is no character limit to any one account. you may have one account per character though, as some people prefer this method to multiple characters for one account. keep in mind, however you do it, that the more characters you have, the more responsibility you have over them. you don't want to overload yourself, do you? - characters must be approved
it doesn't matter how many characters you've made before. every single character you make must be approved by the staff before you can roleplay using them. no exceptions! - No humanoids; No cliches; No OP's
So spoken in English, here's what this triple-edged rule means: We are a site designed to have a huge, changeable character pool, and we are welcome to additions and variations in both the bio making and the character lists. There are just a few limits on what you can do to make/add when coming up with your characters/races. We do not allow humanoid (man-shaped) characters. We do not add cliched races like werewolves and wraiths; and we do not go for over-powered tweaks to the races like a 600 year old werewolf character! Stay within the limits of the races when making your bios or suggesting a new race, and make sure you aren't just adding random, wild stuff just so you can pump your charie up! - Everyone Can play Minor Characters and NPC's
any and all minor characters either created by the admin (NPC's) or created by another member can be controlled by anyone who needs them. If you have a minor character that you do not want to be roleplayed by anyone else, then post a bio and make them your character
[/li][li]no post minimum
there is no posting minimum, but one line posts are frowned upon, and detail is greatly encouraged. if you don't feel like posting, and are trying to force it, just don't. it's okay. it's better to wait for a good post than rush for a bad one!
[/li][li]grammar must be correct
all posts must be grammatically correct and understandable. Typos are okay, but don't make it a habit. if you notice a typo after you've posted, please please go back and change it! I can't stand typos
[/li][li]activity check
After much thought on the subject, and a bunch of fretting from me (the admin) I have decided to do activity checks. Now, they aren't monthly, mind you. I do not really like monthly checks, because they seem like I'm forcing my members to come on, and I don't have a problem with a little activity lag. However, if it gets to the point where it's ridiculous, and a third of our members have gone missing for a month or more, then I am forced to clear out any old accounts. This isn't a monthly thing, in fact I hope and am positive it will not be monthly, but it all depends on how many inactive members we have, and for how long. I will give fair warning in the welcome table when I am thinking about an activity check, but other than that, don't expect one. In the strictest sense of the word though, we do have them.
[/li][li]monthly thread check
this one is pretty self explanatory. I do not like cluttered, old threads that are so old they are crusted over with dust, especially if they are open ones! So saying, each month around the beginning of the month, there is a thread check via mass PM sent out to everyone, and from the date that PM was sent, you have a week exactly to post in your old thread. Don't worry, the thread always lists the inactive threads and who is in them, in case you would like to see if that person still wants to pick up where they left off.
[/li][li]fluid timelines allowed
"fluid time" posting refers to posting in several different places at the same time, and you are aloud to post in as many places as you like. Please keep in mind though, if you post in a thread or start one, you must finish through. Try not to overload yourself, and definitely do not join half the threads on the site then disappear. If the number of threads slows you or your posting-partners in any way, then you are in too many places at once and members are allowed to ask you to politely leave. Don't be a bother to them by overloading yourself, but at the same time if you are able to quickly and efficiently post on every single thread on the site, then by all means do so!
[/li][li]there are restrictions on PG13 material and above
okay, so here's the deal: Proboards is a PG13 forum and requires that all members be at least 13 to legally join. however, even thirteen year old's and up like to be pg rated. some don't like to curse, fight, or do anything inappropriate, and that is their choice as individuals. keeping this in mind, we also do PG13 stuff in this forum. we just have it kept under label so anyone who does not wish to be involved does not have to be.
[/li][li]OOC is PG
rhyming aside, this rule is granite. you will not fight with another member out of character. you will not curse out of character. if you have a problem with this, you can talk to the admin, but this is a little tolerated subject on this site. also, anything else (and I'm sure you can think of other things) that is not PG rated will not be tolerated OOC. on the subject of cursing, after some thought, asterisks are allowed in place of any rude language, but no symbols are allowed in place of a letter or letters. suggestive language is kept to a minimum, but is allowed grudgingly.
[/li][li]PG13 threads need a [PG13] symbol
you are absolutely allowed to be a little realistic with your posting. I know not all characters are saints. some of them curse. some of them try to hit on everything that moves without regard if there are children in the room or not. this is completely fine, and even encouraged. however, if you are going to curse or fight in your thread, you must put the exact symbol [PG13] at the end of your thread title so that other members know there is PG13 material in your posts.
[/li][li]"Iffy" threads go in the Cabaret
so what's "iffy" then? Well kids, "iffy" is all that stuff that is technically PG13 (as we do not allow Maure content) but can become mature at a fast rate. this includes subjects like drugs, alcohol, sex, and more - and this stuff is only played in the Cabaret. why, you ask? because of the fact that it can become Mature, and we do not allow Mature content on this site. the Cabaret is the perfect place to go if you wish to roleplay these kinds of subjects, and although this board is not blocked or protected in any way, we do monitor it for good measure
