Daylet fiddled with the flower in her hair as she approached the gate. it was pitch black outside and the ominous castle-like structure in front of her was almost daunting. The eerie quiet of the school’s grounds called out to her, enticing her, begging her to draw closer. The silence begged to be broken, and so it was as the metal gate ground across the concrete path. The well-oiled hinges swung freely, emitting the smallest squeak in protest.
The only thing left to do was enter. One single step would bind her to this place, keeping her here for as long as it wished. She had heard the stories. Everyone had. This “school” belonged to a chimera named Daniel Crane, his second-in-command being a large spider named mike that kept the peace. By all means the stories were over exaggerated and quite off track, but even knowing that didn’t calm daylet as she lingered outside the gate.
It didn’t seem to be the dark that caused her to hesitate. No, it was something else. Even during the day she would have stood still, debating on whether this was a good idea or not. She would have asked herself the same two questions: “What am I here for? Will it be worth the risk?” She asked herself these, her small voice barely reaching past ten feet. The answer to the first was easy; she was here for him. The second question was a bit harder. What if he wasn’t able to accept her? What then? What if his position didn’t allow for such trivial matters? What if he wasn’t confident enough to take up responsibility? What then?
She sighed. So that was it. That is what was keeping her on the other side of the gate. She couldn’t answer the second question. She always answered those questions when taking a risk! No situation was exempt! How could she leave one of them unanswered? And… if it wasn’t worth it, why do it?
Taking a deep breath, she squared her shoulders, lifted her head, clenched her fists, and grit her teeth. She could do this! She could take the chance! So what if he wasn’t able to please her? She would simply find someone else that could! Wasn’t that possible? There was bound to be people here that were just as powerful! Or, at least, almost as powerful.
Quick and precise, she grabbed her lone bag and pulled on it,, dragging it behind her as her shoes slapped the walkway, the sound echoing across the large courtyard. Well, she was in now. The countless magical barriers had already detected her and there was no turning back.

Ramier wandered aimlessly about the old, old school. It was so dark, he could hardly see the way mommy would, but then again that had never bothered him. He could see everything, and he didn't need light to see it. If it was there, it was within his comprehension. That, and a few other things he'd learned whilst wandering.
Ramier had began a confused, innocent child in this strange place. Well, strange to anyone that had seen its outside. Ramier had been born here, so here it was normal to him. People died; people killed; people raped; and people suffered. There was no big deal about any of it - that's just how the school worked. And somewhere in this madhouse of chaos and destruction he fit in. He really didn't know how, but he did. He avoided the people with that dark look about them, and smiled and laughed with the ones that looked light.
And speaking of light, Ramier could have been a ghost, as light as he was. It was dark, and as much as he could see through the darkness, he didn't really like the dark. Hence the glow, and the funny almost see through appearance. The small, round eyed child could have been a wraith flitting about the grounds at night, but all he really was was his own personal night light.
See? Normal. All this stuff was normal to him. Ramier paused after a moment, looking out over the dark stretch of grass and cobblestone. There was someone out there and they were... odd.
They were not colored light or dark. Now that was strange... even for here. Ramier naturally gravitated toward this person that did not have a light. Maybe they needed some help?
Or maybe they were those bad people like daddy? Actually... this lack of a light was disturbing. It made him very cautious as he approached; but eventually, when all was said and done, and he was right next to this odd person, Ramier gave out his normal, cheerful greeting.
"Hello! I'm Ramier! And don't ask me where my momm is 'cause he's sleeping..."
He felt the need to add in Moss' current location at any given time now. People kept asking him where his mommy was, and that got to be tiresome. Technically speaking, he was with mommy right now. He was around Moss' neck like he always was, protecting him from the bad people in the school. Still, people assumed that just because they could see him that he was actually here.
He wasn't, but he could make himself look like it... More normal stuff.

Even though it seemed she should, Daylet didn’t get goose bumps even as she walked down the long path. In fact, her unease decreased the closer she came to the huge building. Admittedly, it wasn’t the creepiest place she’d been to. Try walking into one of her family reunions! Now that was creepy! It was common sense that the more creepy places one visited the less creepy they became. That was completely true, for the most part, but this place wasn’t just creepy. There was something strange about the atmosphere. It wasn’t the magic cast to keep out intruders and regulate troublesome students. She’d seen better, more elaborately protected places. There weren't many places like that in this world, but there were a few. Then it dawned on her.
She’d never been to a place with so many mythical creatures in one place. Not even her family measured to this quantity.
There were so many of them here! All were of differing strengths, abilities, and IQ's! Nothing around the place could escape unaffected. Looking around again, she decided that many here were evil. Even more were simply affected by that evil and therefore gave off a darker aura. Only a few possessed truly good intentions. Now, could she tell all that by the air? No, of course not! That was how things were most places one went. It was simply safe to assume the same of here.
As she continued to study the flat and mostly unbroken landscape she noticed a small, almost-glowing figure slowly walking toward her. She didn’t feel any hostility radiating from the small figure. Usually her hair would stand on end if she met someone with malicious intent. So as the small child drew closer she didn’t say anything but a small smile crept on her face as the boy spoke.
“Oh, your mommy is sleeping?” she said in her quiet, girly voice as she continued to walk. She was looking at him from the corner of her eye. “I guess after growing up in a place like this he wouldn’t worry too much about you wandering, huh?” The use of ‘he’ instead of ‘she’ didn’t escape Daylet. She had noticed it, well enough, but it didn’t stick too much out. She’d been around. She’d seen things. Bisexual creatures was one of those things. Ramier’s mother had most likely mated with a male creature although he himself typically took on a male appearance. It wasn’t what one would call a ‘common occurrence’, but it wasn’t unheard of and definitely not unseen. Ramier himself was a testament to that.
This time she actually looked down at him. “Well, Ramier, my name is Daylet.” A sweet smile colored her eyes and lips. “As if it isn’t insanely obvious already, I’m new here. Do you mind being my friend? I don’t want to be in this place all alone…” She said it in a very childish way, as if she was slightly frightened, but she did not know the feeling. Though, she did know that other’s responded to it. She couldn’t understand why, but that was okay. She’d simply use that to her advantage.

Ramier tipped his head, eerily reminiscent to the way a certian demonic father of his did. He wasn't so much afraid of this odd creature now as he was concerned and wary; and he definitely wasn't hideously amused like Coyle could be by such a sweet display of human emotion.
But that was just it, this thing - girl - Daylet - was not feeling emotion as you would describe it. Then again, this wasn't the malicious kind of emotional fakage that he'd seen so many others do, including daddy dearest. This was a sweet, innocent, manipulative substitute; and Ramier found it both disturbing and endearing.
Smiling at the pretty lady, he just held out a hand, making himself solid just so she could take it. He looked so young, even in this pale light he produced for himself, but like her, he did not intend evil by this personification. He just was. Just as she was.
Interesting. Ramier again studied the blank slate that should have been her soul closely. So odd... What was the nice lady? Neutral? No. She was something more dangerous than that, but for now she wasn't threatening.
He would give her a chance. Everyone deserved at least one chance.
"Daylet," he said, minicking the sweet, terrified sound that came from her lips almost as a kidding mockery, "Don't be like daddy, please. I do not respond to illusions, as I know thier strength just as I use them to fool others. But we need not fool each other against the way we both feel."
Yes, odd as it sounded, Ramier did not inherently understand emotion. Mommy helped him with that. and for the lesson he is eternally grateful. He makes himself feel them now. It's hard, but he can do lots of things that seem hard to people. He just has to focus. And why? Becuase... Becuase Coyle is the exact opposite, and shields himself from these feelings. Becuase he enjoys the happiness that issues from some just as he laments thier pain. Because he is inherently a good creature at heart. Who knew? But it was what Ramier did, and Ramier was extremely good at it.
You almost couldn't tell.
"I'd love to be your friend," the sweet, soft voice mellowed into his own, adorable child's voice, then down into something lower, clearer than a child's vocal cords could manage. "Welcome to Chimera Academy, Daylet. Wanna take a tour?"

Daylet stopped walking and faced the boy, shaking his hand when he held it out. She never really understood the meaning of a handshake. Someone had once explained it to her; now only if she could remember what had been said. Oh, that was it! Something about each person being sure that the other was safe. It was a reassurance that the person wasn’t going to kill you. At least, that’s what she thought the person had said. She hadn’t really put it to memory, the reason being that she didn’t make a habit out of memorizing explanations that didn’t explain anything.
And while she was thinking about it, maybe she could get Ramier to explain what kind of illusion she was using. She hadn’t cast any spells, she was sure, and she didn’t naturally have the ability to cast illusions. He really wasn’t making any sense. Though… was he talking about her emotions? The last part of his sentence indicated that he was, but why then did he call it an illusion? Wasn’t it just adding a little character to who she wasn’t? Didn’t everyone do that?
She shrugged and smiled as she continued walking. “I’m not sure what exactly you’re talking about. I simply respond how I think best fits the situation. If that’s a crime or something that you can’t trust, I was unaware. Then again,” she smiled at him like a small child would, “you seem quite good at it yourself. I really don’t understand what’s the matter.”
Truly unbeknownst to her, that was the heart of the matter: there were too many things in life that she simply didn’t understand. But that was for her to worry about. It wasn’t Daylet’s job to know the ins and outs of life. She would get her out of a mess if absolutely necessary, though only if it was absolutely necessary. She was such a stick in the mud sometimes, refusing to come and help! It was partially her fault, anyway! She should work to take care of their body sometimes, shouldn’t she?
Shaking her head clear of the sudden cloudiness, she focused back on Ramier. She couldn’t help but clap her hands as he agreed to befriend her. And then his voice changed, obviously more mature than should have been possible. Daylet’s eyes grew wide and she couldn’t help but put a hand over her mouth to stop from laughing. What a cute thing for a young boy to be able to do! “Waah! You’re so adorable!” she told him, happily squealing, unable to stop herself.
She gasped in excitement when he offered a tour of the place. “A tour? Would you? Oh please, oh please, oh please!”
It didn’t even occur to her how confusing she would be to others, for those that could see when she was adding an emotion and when she wasn’t. In her mind, everyone added emotions. Well, not everyone. There were a few out there, she supposed, that actually knew what fear and pain were… but that was a strange topic, so Daylet tended to stay away from it. It wasn’t right to think about such things. It completely ruined ones’ mood! Well, anyone else’s mood.

The small child had to smile at Daylet's defense. Why yes, she was right. He did exactly the same with his pleasantries. It was something that he'd learned from mommy, actually. No nobdy meant these gestures or phrases they used daily, and yet they did them out of the false assumption that others did. They wanted to fit in, and such perpetuated the lie. Ramier must have been one of the only ones that actually did mean what he did and said. Although the emotion of smile, laugh, cry, or handshake was for the most part lost on him, there to replace it was a genuine sincerity. He shook her hand as a tangible symbol of friendship, not to fool her into thinking he was on her side.
"I suppose it is a bit funny," he said, "for me to mention it. But it is not a crime or a matter of trust so much as it bothers me." The small, delicate smile of he todler grew wider. "Pet Peeve. I like to be litteral, and action not backed by direct intention bugs me."
It just reminded him of daddy, is all... But he knew what Daylet meant any time she did something, like he did with most everyone else. He sensed intention, not physical personification of that intention into such inept things as words or gestures. Still, it was nice when words and intentions lined up. It was confusing for him when they didn't. It was almost like lying, and the simple childish part of him was appauled at such complexities.
The simple childish part also giggled cutely as she clapped a hand over her mouth and squealed. When she grew excited at his accepted friendship, he clapped his hands together much like a young child oggling a pretty toy or being showered with attention.
"Yes! Tour!" he giggled, happily. It was odd, he noticed, but noticed it only slightly.
Two people with such great gaps of knowledge. One in social experience and the other in practical experience. Both so similar and yet so different. Ramier decided he liked Daylet, and like any todler that likes another person, he grabbed a handful of the rim of her shirt and tugged lightly on it.
"Dorms first," Ramier said, cocking his head to the side again and sticking a thumb in his mouth. "That way."
He pointed a moment, removing the thumb, but quickly replaced it to it's rightful place. He wished he had brought his binky now...

Daylet could feel the giddiness growing inside of her. Not only did she now know someone in this large place, but he was a cute little boy who was going to show her around! That killed two birds with one stone: she wasn’t alone and she wouldn’t get lost. Now only if she could fine him… Maybe she’d ask Ramier of his whereabouts? Then again, why would this little kid know? But his mother... he might know… judging from Ramier his mother was quite a powerful man. Maybe she could meet him in a few days. Of course it would be quite strange for her to want to meet him right off but after a little bit it would only be normal. At least, that’s what she’d been told. Who was she to know normal?
From an early age she’d been called strange, demonic, and evil. From other’s descriptions of those characteristics they weren’t good things, but she couldn’t see how she might be either of the latter. The first one she could understand even if just a little. The others didn’t even make sense. Evil people were mean and they enjoyed hurting other people. She wasn’t like that! She had their best interests in mind. She wouldn’t hurt someone of her own accord, at least not an innocent person. That wasn’t to say that she wouldn’t kill if she was told to by him or someone of similar importance, but that wasn’t evil. That was being a good friend… or a good follower.
Either way, she didn’t care. If someone was important to her she’d do anything they said. That was her reality of friendship. It was very perverted but she didn’t even realize how much so. To her a friend was someone who would ‘accept’ her and if they did that she was basically theirs to control. When one looked at all the things she did and her ideals, though, it was probably one of the most normal.
“Aaah!” she squeaked when he took her shirt. It wasn’t often that she was around little kids so it was strange for anyone to grab any part of her clothing, but she soon smiled at him and walked along with him. He was a cute little boy, so energetic and full of life. Strange life, for sure, but life all the same. And who was Daylet to label someone strange? To her what was strange was normal and what was normal was strange. That in itself was quite odd, but then again it was quite normal to her.
As she followed Ramier to the dorms she wondered where he was. If it had been daylight she would have searched for him but because it was night she had decided to leave the matter alone for the time being. After all, she didn’t want to interrupt him if he was sleeping. It helped that Ramier was being so kind to her. She definitely wouldn’t have wanted to miss meeting him.[/color]

Ramier showed Daylet the dorms quickly, not rushing, but at the same time not dawdling around either. There were plenty of other cool places to look at, and he didn't want to stay in the dorms long. Mommy would be sleeping, and he didn't want to walk by too loudly and wake him up...
He tugged on Daylet's shirt lightly - very lightly because he noticed she didn't like him holding on already - and pointed to an empty room.
"There's where you can stay I guess. There are a lot more of them, but this one's closer to the fridge and stuff."
He giggled as he said it. He sounded all grown up, showing her around like this. It tickled him that something so odd cold be so true, but he was actually the senior here! It was a new experience, and he enjoyed it perhaps as much as any other new thing he did.
After the dorms he thought he'd go for something more exciting. It was dark, and you weren't supposed to go out at dark, but he figured that if he just went up to the stuff to show her and not inside then he wouldn't be breaking any rules would he?
So he started at the game courts, pointing over all the pretty balls and fields and lines and barriers that made up all the sporting events.
"I always liked it here," he said, smiling up at her. "It's were you play games!"
Then he showed her the woods and the lake and the meadows and the garden. All of them were further out and they were all so pretty at night. Well... if you saw them they were. He didn't know of Daylet could see the quiet peace of nature at night, so he asked her in a testing sort of way.
"Isn't it pretty, Daylet?"
He could see the sharp waves rippling the surface of the cool water at night - the blades of grass that swayed like water themselves in the meadow - the stone statues that stood and guarded the garden until the people returned to view it's brilliance by day. All these things he could see for himself.
He liked it here. He wondered if she would eventually too? But right now it was almost like she wasn't paying attention...
"Something troubling you?"
Before he even asked it, he caught a vague sense of what it was.
"I can help with it, but I need your help too."

Daylet followed Ramier to the buildings he called the dorms. She would have to live in that place…? With others? She frowned the slightest bit. “Share… a room… with… someone else?” It wasn’t that she was disgusted, or even that she thought herself better than that. She had a slight apprehension when it came to sharing rooms. The last time that had happened… well, it hadn’t ended well. That might have been because her roommate had been a human, but to her it made no difference. The girl had looked scared to death.
Daylet didn’t care about the girl, but for a time after that she had been placed in a white room with cushions for the wall, floor, and ceiling. They were so that she didn’t harm herself, a doctor had explained. He had told her that he and his friends were unsure of what she was capable, and that they didn’t want anything to happen that could be harmful to anyone. She knew the real reason, though. She had heard him mumble it as he walked out the door: “And your ‘friend’ said you tried to kill her, you insane little…”
The doctor never finished the sentence but it was of no consequence. All she needed had been in those inaudible words. They were scared of her. She wasn’t sure why and she couldn’t understand the feeling itself, but she knew it wasn’t a good thing and that they were suffering. Of course, they, like so many others, thought they couldn’t be good friends to her. They didn’t want to possibly hurt her so they did the only thing they knew how to do: protect her.
But Daylet didn’t need protecting.
Sure, there were hunts for her after she left, but it wasn’t like she had done anything wrong. After a few weeks she grew tired of doing nothing all day and decided to leave, disposing of anyone that tried to stop her. They had all had that fear… just like her roommate. They looked at her with wide eyes, trying to think of a way to be a better friend to her. None of them did anything much more than say “No, no please! Please don’t!”
The poor things... They had only wished to keep her safe, to be the kindest to her that they could. And Daylet was grateful. They wanted to protect her so much that they were willing to beg for her to stay. It was a pity, really, that she had grown tired of that place. They all seemed so nice there. One or two would act a little defensive sometimes, but that was understandable. After all, they were only human. Overall, it had simply been bothersome and she wished to not have to disappoint other people. There was no way they could comprehend what she required.
Ramier, though, seemed to understand. He was so small yet much smarter than any human she had met. It only went to show how inferior they were to the higher species. The only reason the powerless things were in control was because the ‘higher ups’ liked it that way, but even that was an understood desire. Man could never destroy the world as a whole, they could only slowly contaminate it. Other species, though… they were much too powerful to be in control.
”Yes, it’s very pretty.” She smiled at the little boy. He was so pure and innocent, in a way. He understood.
Maybe he would be able to understand as well. If she could be granted one thing in her life… his affection would not be what she would ask for. She liked him, sure, but she wasn’t dependant on him. That would be the gravest mistake she could ever make; an emotional connection with the physical world was fatal. Unbeknownst to her, anything of the sort was out of her reach.
“Troubling me?” she giggled. “No, it’s nothing, really. Though…” she smiled at him, a mischievous gleam coloring her eyes. “If you want to help me with something, you could procure a meeting of sorts for me. There is someone here who I wish to meet.”
Odds were that Ramier couldn’t do much to help her, but it couldn’t hurt to ask.

Ramier smiled sweetly at Daylet's response. She was nice. Really nice, but there were things she didn't understand, and things he could never understand in her. It would make her dangerous, he noticed. It would make her unimaginably cruel, although she had not the faintest intention of being that way. Without a grip on reality, and without a comprehension of the creatures around her, she would drive them away in a sadly foolish, but unavoidable way. She would always be alone, and not know why. Never know why... but it wouldn't bother her so much as it should - which was exactly why she would drive everyone off.
Ramier blinked. What? That was.... funny. He didn't know how he thought of that, but he did, and he found it to be true. Poor Daylet. She wasn't bad - she was just a little kid. Just like him.
And he would be her friend, regardless of this odd thing he thought about her.
"Well..." Ramier mumbled, not so sure about this thing she wanted. He knew what it was, but he wasn't sure if he could just call up a meeting like that. He knew how to get a meeting, but it would be hard.
White. Ramier knew to stay away from White.
Danger
See? He was right. Although Ramier was perfectly comfortable with the fact that he could overpower the bartender if need be, he was less confident with the general practice of going on this adventure. The dark colors in bad people always found a way to do something bad. That was what they did. He couldn't explain any of it, but he knew.
Evil was tricky, and evil was tenacious. If it wanted to harm him, he did not think he could stop it. So he avoided it.
Speaking of which, Ramier felt something, and at that feeling, and at the imminent sense of danger, he pulled himself out of solidity. The little hand clenched around Daylet's shirt fell through it now, swirling like smoke as it hit the still solid Daylet and fell at his side.
Then, in a moment of pure childish mentality, he noticed his mistake and giggled to himself, jumping up and down again.
"Hey Daylet, I did it!"
Of course he did not "do it" but he thought he did. What other explanation could there be? Just after speaking of this quest to find him, there he was, not a few meters away!
"I must be magic!" he laughed, once again returning to solidity and grabbing Daylet's hand, tugging at it.
"Come on! Let's go!"
Ramier began to move forward, dragging Daylet along with him with all the force of any normal toddler. It would be bad to drag Daylet with his real strength. She may be stronger than she looked like him, but maybe she wouldn't be ready and she would fall!
Ramier didn't want Daylet to fall. Falling hurt, and falling made your knees all stratchy. Mommy told him to walk slower so he wouldn't fall, but what did Mommy know?
Besides, Ramier wanted to run!
The moon was bright - an orb perfectly round, with just a hint of color on its otherwise pale pockmarked surface. There weren't any clouds tonight either, making the sky all the more beautiful as the stars lay out as a shimmering sheet of light.
It was nice, but Crane preferred the daytime. There were more colors to the day, he found, and they were much more interesting to stare at. White was also much more active at night, making things more busy for Crane.
This night, for example, White had invaded Centaur territory and began shooting the creatures down for fun. Crane had explained the problems revolving around this event, but White was never one to consider consequences at all. Not even if they directly applied to him. On the contrary, Crane believed White enjoyed consequences more than anything else. They were reminiscent of the old vampire's more active days, and he was reluctant to give them up so easily, as much as he claimed he was through with all manner of "exciting" events.
Then again, White always was adventurous... At least the centaurs didn't massacre the town like they'd threatened. Crane had to mediate for a few hours, but it ended up amounting to the same thing both parties always threatened: they would have started a war if they were a few hundred years younger.
Crane mildly wondered if he would think the same way when he was five hundred. Then, without putting much more than a few seconds of thought into it, he shrugged and continued to walk back to the castle. No. Probably not. He would always be just as he was now, and just as he had been before.
Someone speaking caught his attention then, and he paused, turning toward the noise. It was a child.
Oh yes. Coyle's child. Crane frowned. He would have to talk to Coyle about that eventually... So many things to do.
The good were often more trouble than they were worth, but the evil... They liked to keep busy, didn't they?

Daylet smiled at Ramier as he thought about her delima and mumbled under his breath. She ruffled his hair took his hand., "Don't worry about it, Ramier. It's alright. I'll just have to find a way to meet him myself."
After all, it wasn't this small child's responsibility to help her meet with Crane. She would have to do this herself. She was sure the child could give her some advice on where to find the man or point her to someone who knew where he was, but that was about it. He was so young, after all, and he seemed a little too innocent to be caught up in anything to do with the founder. It was a shame really, that he could be of little help. He was such a nice kid and Daylet liked him a lot. Well, nevermind his usefulness! Daylet would keep him near anyway! After all, he was her first friend.
Just as she came to this conclusion Ramier shouted while jumping up and down. She looked at him and laughed before looking in the direction he was.
She froze.
This was... This was Daniel Crane... He was here?! "How... how did you...?" she asked Ramier completely confused. How had he done it? What power did he posess that he could summon someone just by thinking of meeting them? Daylet didn't know, but she wanted that power too. Ramier had no such power but if he said he did it then Daylet would believe him.
But what did it matter? Daniel was here. Now! She had no idea if she should say anything or if she should stay silent, if she should wave or stay still. She could barely move and barely speak. All she could do was look at the ground and blush.
Glancing up at the chimera she noted his features and put them to memory. He was a good-looking man with blondeish hair and a strong jawline. The glasses perched oh his nose completed his appearance and the slight stubble suggested that he needed a shave. But Daylet liked his appearance, though he didn't have the look of someone who would be as apathetic as Daniel Crane was rumored to be.
'H-hello." she managed to say, though it came out as more of a squeak than words. She smiled shyly and reached for Ramiers hand. Maybe physical touch of someone she knew could help calm her down. Most likely not, but it was worth a try. She'd seen others do the same and right now she was ready to do anything so she could calm down.
But... Crane was here! It didn't seem possible!!! She had waited for so very long and had expected to wait for a lot longer but here he was! It was so surreal! It was her biggest dream come true! And better yet, her best friend was here with her to share the excitement~

It was a moment before Crane was fully engaged in the two, and when he finally was, he simply smiled a polite smile for them both.
"Hello there."
He seemed to be more focused on the view directly surrounding them more so than themselves, but at least it was something. He did, however, glean something of the broadened image he saw.
"It's a wonderful night, isn't it?"
He'd noticed the weather, but now he focused more on where he was; and maybe while he was thinking about it, where he was going. Streetlights had flickered on for the night staff to begin their duties, and he remembered he needed to attend to a few more things despite the night. Always things to do. Sometimes he wondered why they needed to be done in the first place, but eventually he would forget that silly notion. They needed to be done - that was all that mattered.
And... if he must waste away a perfectly good night doing them, he must. But these two seemed like they wanted him for some reason. Coyle's child had said something about magic, and the girl with him had in return greeted him. Daylet. Yes, he knew about her. Raimier would take care of her until she was settled. This, most of the new students couldn't claim to. It was odd then, that one of the many things Crane must do is speak with Coyle - Raimier's less than pleasant father - as one of his errands. Then again, it was Coyle. Coyle would constantly need to be watched... but not immediately. Things could wait, if these two wanted something.
"...Is there something I can help you with?"

Daylet took in a deep breath to calm herself. There was no reason to get over excited. Yes, Daniel was here but she had to be calm. If she was too nervous she wouldn't be able to speak and that wouldn't do any good. Today was providence. Well... it was dark out... meaning night time... so... technically 'today' wasn't providence... tonight was... but...
Shoving the slightly confusing and completely irrelevant thoughts to the back of her mind, she smiled and nodded. Her voice was soft and her eyes were sparkling. "Uhuh..." talking a deep breath to clear her head she turned and looked around at the layers of darkness. The magnificence of the moonlit world shone all around her and she smiled at it. A bat flew overheard, squealing at her. Aw, the poor creature, seeing an over-sized moth it couldn't eat. She almost felt sorry for it. Almost. After all, she was the moth.
She turned back to Daniel as he spoke. "Eh? Need something...?" She looked at Ramier then back at Crane. "I... I can imagine that you're busy. You... probably don't have time for me. I mean us!!" She smiled apologetically at Ramier. Here she was forgetting about her own best friend! He was being so nice, too, calling Daniel our for her! She should pay more attention to the small boy!
"Well, Ramier and I were going to... take a tour... we've already been to most of the grounds, though..." Her voice trailed off. There was no doubt that the chimera had places to be. But... there was no reason he couldn't take them with him, right? "I'm sure you have things to attend to, so... we can walk with you for a bit, right?"
